THE END OF THE WORLD IS NIGH - NOT! 2012, Apocalypse Rumours and Transit of Venus

Everyone seems to be talking about how the 2012 Winter Solstice will line up with the centre of the galaxy. This, if you believe all you read on the Internet, will trigger chaos, cataclysms and mass extinction events.

As an astrologer, with a good grounding in the ancient mystery teachings, I would like to add my own comment in an attempt to help quash the exponentially increasing hysteria - sparked, in part, by the recent release of the Hollywood blockbuster film, 2012.

Yes it is true that the 2012 Solstice comes close to lining up with the Galactic Centre (GC) but it seems to be a little known fact among non-astrologers, that the Solstice occurs on or around this date every year. Furthermore the Winter Solstice is always at 0 Capricorn and the centre of the galaxy has been calculated as being in the adjacent sign of Sagittarius for thousands of years. In the 16th Century for example, it was at 21 Sag. Astrologically, it has moved a fraction in recent years from 26 to 27 Sag (3 degrees from 0 Capricorn) but it will still be at 27 Sag in 2050 and way beyond. So whatever alignment has been prophesied it wasn't one based solely on the alignment of the Solstice and the Galactic Centre or '2012' cataclysms would have been happening for decades and continue to do so!

Others say, "No No, you don't understand, it's the plane of the galaxy (i.e. the Galactic Equator) aligning with the Winter Solstice in 2012", or some other such 'neat' astronomical alignment. This too has only a smidgen of truth in it. There are lots of very pretty diagrams and moving models out there on the Net to 'prove' all this alignment theory - some use the tropical zodiac others Sidereal but, which ever way you cut it, if we are talking about a point out there in the heavens as viewed from Earth, then it has to be a point like the one we use to track the concept of precession (precession being the counter clockwise movement of the the Vernal axis).If this is so, (which it is) then it would take the Sun, as seen from Earth, almost 72 years from first contact until it has cleared this point entirely. The distances are too vast to say they come together in one year let alone one day in 2012 at 11.11 am GMT. 1 degree takes 72 years to pass, when looking at points against the backdrop of the heavens.

Therefore even an actual 'precise' alignment with the centre of the galaxy, or the Dark Rift, would last at least 36 years and to say that something will happen on one day in December 2012 is patently false.

I don't dispute that there is a possibility we are moving through a 36-72 year window of change and that 2012 may mark the middle of that; a transition that some Ancient Wisdom teachers* see as highly significant to the human race and planet, but I don't think it has to do with any precise alignment of the solstice point.

I also don't dispute that we are probably going to witness a great deal of upheaval in the next 3 years including more geophysical disasters, but this will be due to the ending and beginning of some major outer planetary cycles and the Sun Spot Max cycle. These factors have historically coincided with difficult periods for humanity

Personally, I think any belief in 2012 being the start of a 'new age' is the most accurate interpretation and I base this on my understanding of the occulted knowledge of Venus, the number 5 and 72 and their relationship to love, harmony and joy.

The division of the 360 degree astrological circle by 5 gives us a 72 degree angle, known in astrology as the Quintile and this is related to 'doing what we love'. This is because of harmonic resonance (the 5th harmonic) its connection to the Golden Section, and its ability to induce harmony in the body and its over soul. This 5th harmonic relates to what we bring with us in spirit, hence the term Quintessence - the 5th element; the aether*. In other words it relates to the innate creativity we are born with. What we bring with us into this world which we can contribute lovingly and willingly to humanity.

In view of this, you will surely recognise there is no coincidence to the fact that there are 5 books in the Torah (read more on 5) or that the average resting heartbeat of the human being is 72 bpm. We all know the heart chakra is associated with the emanation of Love.

It's also no coincidence either that in initiations into the Ancient Mystery Schools, the stages on the path are five fold:

1. The Aspirant
2. The Probationer
3. The Disciple
4. The Initiate
5 The Master or Adept.

Or that the stages on the path are, essentially, also five fold:

1. To study the forces and energies within nature and within himself.
2. To learn how to wisely use these energies
3. To acquire soul knowledge
4. To learn how to safely use these powers to control the personality
5. To learn how to use the spiritual will

Or that we possess 5 senses with which we perceive reality.

The 5th initiation is also concerned with the transfer of consciousness to the 'Fifth Kingdom - the Kingdom of God. This arises from the 5 fold divisions of Kingdoms:

1 The Mineral Kingdom
2. The Vegetable Kingdom
3. The Animal Kingdom
4 The Human Kingdom
5.The Kingdom of God : the level of ascended Masters

It should also be noted that in Kaballah there are 72 names for God

Additionally, it is also no surprise to those who understand the Law of Correspondences, that Venus' distance from the Sun is .72AU giving the Sun, Venus and the Heart centre a direct correspondence.

There's more: the previously mentioned Precession of the Equinoxes means that the Vernal Point is slipping back approximately 1 degree every - here's that number again - 72 years. One complete precessional cycle takes 25,920 years. If we divide that number by the number we now associate with the Venus harmonic - 72 - it gives us 5 ages of 5184 years. This is not too far off the number of years in the 5 Suns of the Mesoamerican calendars, said to be 5125 years each.

Note too that the Dec 2010 eclipse total phase lasts for 72 minutes!

The reason the number 5 is used in the symbolism of all of the Ancient Wisdom schools - the 5 fold rose or cinquefoil being just two well known symbols - is to veil the knowledge which may run counter to religious doctrines and dogma. Knowledge of the cycles of planets; Venus and other heavenly bodies, and their portents and effects on the terrestrial plane (and within our physiology) constitute all of the secret wisdom.

Isis was the divine personification of the planet Venus and this early mythology is the basis for much of the wisdom teachings today. 'Oh Lord, My God, Is there no help for the Widow's Son' is a phrase used by the Masons. It will mean nothing to the average person on the street, or even to those Mason's who believe their craft originated in the 17th Century, but speaks volumes to those who are open to seeing that the Ancient Mystery teachings are a body of knowledge which has been passed down from the Egyptian Dynasties. The level of knowledge one has access to is dependent upon the inner level of knowing (Gnosis) one is able to attain and demonstrate.

In brief then, the tales of all of the Gods and Goddesses transmit, allegorically, a body of ancient wisdom about the geometry of the heavens (within and without) and alert us to our own divinity.

This wisdom - which stretches to include knowledge of ways to manipulate heavenly forces to produce effects, which in the wrong hands could be dangerous - continues to be necessarily veiled until a time when one can be sure that it will be used for the upliftment of humanity and not by those who only seek power over others. That time of 'revelation' or lifting the veil* of truth and knowledge is fast approaching (and is a time known to many adepts) and will come in line with the number of people earnestly seeking to raise their level of consciousness - Know Thyself!. It's certainly not going to be an overnight event but 2012 does lie right in the heart of all this.

I'll just add here that the reason the Pentagram is widely used in occult/ esoteric practice is because of its affiliation with Venus. The pentagram is Venus. Venus is known as Lucifer, the light bringer, but periodically disappears when her light is masked (hence the dark, or fall, of Venus is Satan).

Plotting the recurrence of Venus' westward elongation from the Sun, over five consecutive synodic periods, the five sections will form a Pentagram. Watch this animation to see how and as noted in this article on the Geometry of Islamic patterns a precise pentagram contains the Golden Section proportions within its structure. The same article also notes that 'the Venus table of Ammisaduqa, a 7th Century cuneiform tablet recovered from the library at Nineveh, offers evidence this pattern (the pentagram of Venus) was known to Babylonian astrologers at least as far back as the 17th century BC.'

We know from the Dresden Codex that the Maya based many of their calculations around the planet Venus, so is it coincidence that in 2012 there will be a rare Transit of Venus across the face of the Sun - something that repeats only every 243 years and over the course of time marks out its own pattern? It is said there is no record that the Maya knew of these specific transits of Venus to the Sun but as only a few documents remained after the Spanish burned them, I think we can safely assume there's a good chance they did!

As far as the Mesoamerican cultures go however, and particularly with regard to all this 'end of the world' misinformation it should be remembered that it is we, modern mankind, who has looked at the figures and symbols, interpreted them and given the 3114BC start date to their calendar retrospectively. Indeed, many scholars disagree that 2012 is the end date for the Mayan calendar.

So, in conclusion then, it is my considered opinion then, that whilst many cycles will be ending and beginning over the next few years, potentially bringing great cyclical social, political and terrestrial upheaval, the true esoteric meaning of 2012 is all about Venus energy and, to borrow a phrase, it's about a 'Return to Love'.

The 2012 transit of Venus across the face of the Sun (which symbolically brings Isis and Osiris together) when combined with other longer term cycles, plus the slow but sure dissemination and acceptance of other facets of the ageless wisdom teachings, I believe will eventually contribute to illumination of man* and the dawning of a new age.

Expect to see the expose and downfall in coming years of all those, even at the highest level of religious authority, who are not working with the Ascended Masters' plan to see 'a new heaven on earth'. On the personal level, start looking at what gift you came with (in your spirit) to give to humanity. Be sure to look at how you can serve and not just what you can get. Work hard to spread love, joy and balance in the run up to 2012 - and beyond.

Above all have faith. The end of the world is indeed nigh; a new golden age is just waiting to be born!

SIGILS, SYMBOLS, SEALS, SIGNS & STARS

Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words. This image is a table of correspondences showing Fixed stars and their Kabbalistic sigils.

A particularly well known list is contained in the 17th century The Lesser Keys of Solomon aka Clavicula Salomonis and Legemeton. This book was birthed from the original, much earlier version The Key of Solomon also, rather confusingly, known as the Clavicula Salomonis.

These magical books, called Grimoires, were like recipe books. They contained the special sigils and instructions to be used for performing all manner of 'spells'. The precise wording and step by step instructions for the invocations/evocations and conjurations - all of these words referring to the art of calling forth spirits, angels (or demons) to assist the practitioner - were listed in these books.

The intention was to transfer specific 'energies' into special amulets (rings, discs, pieces of parchment, wax seals, stone or other materials) or Talismans (Talismans are just a type of amulet). In order to do this they had to be made at specific times using the law of correspondence. What this means is that the material used; the symbols (sigils) inscribed; the words spoken or chanted (called incantations) as it was made; the colours used; the position of the planets etc., etc would all have some correspondence to the person for whom it was being made AND for the problem that was trying to be overcome - or the result that was being sought. Many amulets were made for common things like like a return to health, finding love, or to ward off certain people or demons. The object was then either worn or carried for protection (or placed nearby the intended recipient) at all times.

By way of example of what a finished one might look like, at the top of the page is the Pentacle of Solomon from The Lesser Key.. grimoire and here is the Key of Solomon amulet from The Key of Solomon grimoire. They are also sometimes referred to as Seals of Solomon.

Such was the power invested in these objects that it was believed they could transfer their energy from person to person or even from person to other forms of matter. For example, an amulet/pentacle dipped in water was thought to be able to transfer its qualities across to the water which could then be imbibed by the person.

Sometimes the amulets were multi-layered- containing an inner and outer inscription.

Before commencing work upon making any of these objects it was required that the 'magician' should cleanse themselves of all sins and powerful prayers were recited. It was also necessary, under Kabbalistic rules, to keep the process secret from the wearer lest it diminish the objects power.

Below you will see a couple of extracts from the book The Lesser Key of Solomon with the second instruction informing the practitioner how to make themselves invisible! The complete text of this book, also known as Clavicula Salomonis, can be read here where you will find countless examples of sigils, ciphers, seals and magical instructions for the preparation of amulets, pentacles and talisman.

Here followeth how and after what sort pentacles must be made, wherein all the science of the Key of Knowledge dependeth. Chap. 4.
Theis Pentacles must be made on the day of Mercury, and in his hower, the mone beynge in Ayery sygne, and in the increase of the mone.	These pentacles must be made on the day of Mercury, and in his hour, the moon being in an airy sign, and in the increase of the moon.
To make theis thou must haue an howse or chamber, where there dwelleth noe boddy but thy selfe; this howse or chamber thou shalt perfume, as shalbe appoynted in the chapter of perfumes and odours; And sprincle yt w^th such water as shalbe p^rscrybed in that chapiter; loke also that the wether be faier, and the Ayer cleare; and that thou haue sufficient vyrgyñ parchmente.	To make these thou must have an house or chamber, where there dwelleth nobody but thyself; this house or chamber thou shalt perfume, as shall be appointed in the chapter of perfumes and odours; and sprinkle it with such water as shall be prescribed in that chapter. Look also that the weather be fair, and the air clear; and that thou have sufficient virgin parchment.

THE SEVEN SENSES

As those of you who read my website or follow my blogs, including the Cosmic Ordering one, will no doubt know by now, I am not a great fan of the way in which burgeoning awareness of the esoteric wisdoms has been turned into a commercial juggernaut. All these 'Join this site to manifest your way to millionaire, Rolex-owner status ' schemes leave me cold!

However, every now and again I happen across a site which could well be lumped in with all these other 'Get rich quick' sites but has that 'je ne sais quoi'- that certain 'I know not what' about it.

What I do know is that if ever there was a site where you can read what I described to a friend as:"Simple, straightforward, no nonsense, this is how it is, go do it, kinda stuff!" all in one place, then I may have just found it.

Witten in 2005 before the wave of 'The Secret' movie hit the web, it's a site that brings together all the ancient wisdoms, combines it with the modern knowledge coming out of the Quantum Mechanics/Theory arena and delivers it in a way that is very easy to read. If assimilated properly this knowledge can change what you attract into your life, and change the way you perceive the world around you. Here's a taste:

The Seven Senses

There is only one sense, the sense of feeling. All other senses are different forms of the same sense.

To see, hear, touch, smell or taste is to feel. All senses lead to feeling.

Looking is touching. The more you like something or someone, the more you look at it and the more you are mentally touching it. Different colors have different psychological, biological and spiritual effects on us.

Music moves people in ways that nothing else can. Different sound, beats, rhythm and harmony lead to different emotional journeys. Music can transport us to places we’ve never been to before and the sound of a sweet and gentle voice can melt your heart completely.

The statement “You reached out for my hand but end up touching my heart” shows that touching someone usually has more than a physical effect. By the nature of your touch, they can sense your strength, attitude, intention and emotion.

The way to man’s heart or emotions is through his stomach. The food that we eat requires more than nutritional value to satisfy us. We consume not just for our physical well being but also for our emotional well being. Some people tend to eat more when they feel anxiety. They psychologically feel that they are lacking something and therefore they need to fill up.

Smell is the attractant or repellent scent of love. The smell of others literally pull you towards or push you away from them. The scent of beautiful smelling flowers can create instant feelings of romance and serenity.

It is said that it isn’t most important how great a guy looks or what he says, but how he makes her feel. Everything that he does is to make her feel attracted to him. The same is also true for the guy being attracted to the girl.

As it is in the world of attraction, so is it in the entire universe.

All sensory stimulus are basically vibrations. Light waves, sound waves, tactile and chemical vibrations. The universe is one whole seamless sea of vibrations. Your five sense interprets the different levels of vibration into sight, hearing, touching, smelling and tasting.

The most primitive sense of perceiving vibrations is the sense of feeling. Vibrations have to be felt. That is why the invisible and the silent forces can only be perceived by feeling them.

Vibrations that are beyond the range of the five senses ability to detect can be perceived directly by our consciousness. All sensory input travels through our nervous system and gets processed by our brain and passed on to our consciousness, the higher energy aspect of our being. Our consciousness can perceive beyond the limits of our physical bodies that it is in phase with while we’re alive.

Thought vibrations are finer than any other vibrations in the physical world. Consciousness is most sensitive to thought vibrations.

There is a Universal Consciousness that permeates and connects everything in the universe. Therefore, our thoughts can literally affect the things around us.

Plants do not have eyes to see nor ears to hear but they respond to sunlight and music. When placed under a shade, they will grow towards where the light is shining through. When placed beside a stereo, they will bend towards it when the music is harmonious and away from it if the music is discordant.

Plants even respond to the thoughts of people. In the book Primary Perception, a plant registers bioelectrical activity when the author intended to burn it. It even displayed a response at a distance when he forgot to bring his wallet outside and decides to return home. When he replicated his steps, there was no response. The plant is able to differentiate between planned and spontaneous activity. This shows that plants and other living cell organisms can literally read our thoughts. Talking with trees is not that far fetched an idea after all.

The truth that all sense is one sense explains why when people lose one of their senses, they are able to make up for it with the rest. The other senses can take over the function of the lost sense so well that they can still go on living their lives normally. Sometimes it happens so well that a loss of one of their senses seem to be more advantageous to them than when they had it. Their compensating senses develop beyond the normal level of power that enables them to do amazing things.

Since all five senses lead to feeling, the reverse is also true. Feeling will also lead to all five senses. A blind person can see your face by feeling it. He can even see you better with his hands and his heart than you can see him with your eyes. His sense of feeling can see past appearance into a person’s true nature.

Knowing that all sensory stimulus are vibrations helps you to understand how cross sensory perception works. You can hear the loudness of color and see the brightness of sound. People can have good or bad tastes in art and music. You can taste what you smell and smell what you see. Dolphins see the ocean scape with sonar while bats see in darkness with echo. You can see the shape of a baby in a womb with ultrasound.

In fact, you could even think that all sense is seeing sense, all sense is hearing sense, all sense is touching sense, all sense is smelling sense, all sense is tasting sense and all sense is feeling sense. Since all sense is one sense, you can interpret one form of sensory data into another.

Everything is light, everything is sound, everything is touch, everything is smell, everything is taste and everything is feeling.

Seeing is feeling, hearing is feeling, touching is feeling, smelling is feeling, tasting is feeling.

There is an order of development of the five senses in the womb. The first to develop is sense of touch followed by sense of taste, sense of smell, sense of hearing and sense of sight. In the external world, the order of senses in terms of perceptual reach from closest to furthest range is touch, taste, smell, hearing and sight.

The sense of touch is the closest to the sense of feeling because it is an external form of feeling. The sixth sense is a sense of inner knowing and inner feeling. To know is to feel, to feel is to know. Knowing and feeling are one. How do you know something? You know it as an internal feeling. How do you know something to be true? You know it by how it feels.

We can look at a dog and know what it is without thinking the word “dog” in our head. If we look at a dog and we look at a spoon, we know through internal feelings or sensations, they are different things. They do not just look different but they also feel different. We internally register a different feeling from perceiving each one. Our sixth sense delivers that data to us. It is the sensory that is closest to what we are looking for, a frequency or energy.

You experience frequency, energy or vibration by feeling. There is an internal frequency or feeling for every mental phenomena you experience. All mental states are internal frequencies or feelings. It you can recreate the internal frequency, you can recreate the phenomena. There is a frequency of inspiration, passion, confidence, creativity etc.

Emotion or feeling is the closest thing to frequency or vibration that we can communicate to the universe with.

Feeling or frequency is how we communicate with things. This is how psychokinesis works. We put our mind in the mental state or frequency that is in synch with the object in order to move it. If you wanted to float an apple across the room, do you just tell the apple “Hey apple! I command you to float across the room!”? No. It is an internal frequency or feeling we think that moves it.

Understanding our sixth sense opens up our paranormal abilities. If you can perceive, you can also exert. Energy can move in two directions, in and out.

They say you can’t see God but you can feel him, He is like the wind. It begins with feeling, and then hearing, and then seeing. When you begin to feel his presence, you can hear his still small voice and then you shall see visions that he reveals to you. Usually all that takes place mentally in the realm of your imagination although it sometimes happen physically for some people too. The realm of the imagination is spiritual, therefore what takes place in it isn’t just make belief but it is also very real.

Since it is the nature of the universe to exist in sevens, there is a seventh sense. The seventh sense is thought perception.

Every place has a mental atmosphere which is made up of the collective thought waves of people that had passed through there. When you go into a place where people have been involved in the mental activity of reading, your thought waves will be entrained for reading. The same is true for mental atmospheres of dancing, relaxing, racing, worshiping or any activity.

Feeling is thought. To feel is to think. Feeling is a form of thinking. The sixth sense is to think by feeling. The sixth sense is the link between the first five and the seventh.

Emotion and thinking are symbiotic, one never exists without the other. Whenever one seems to exist without the other, it means the other is subconscious. Your thinking affects your emotion and your emotion affects your thinking. Everything is energy and it is Mind that moves energy. Emotion is energy in motion and since Mind is energy, emotion is mind moving itself.

Intuition is combined operation of the sixth and seventh senses. When you come into the presence of people, you can sense their energies and their thought waves. You can perceive whether they are weak or strong, dull or brilliant, good or evil, positive or negative. The same is true for the energies you project for others to sense as well.

Just like you can transmute the sense of hearing into the sense of seeing by making a three dimensional mental picture from the sounds of your environment, you can also transmute the sixth sense into the seventh sense by understanding what your feelings mean. Your intuition is most powerful when you are able to feel and understand what your feelings mean. You have to use your seventh sense to help your sixth sense.

As the sensory inputs of light, sound, touch, smell and taste are reproduced in your brain, so are the thought waves of your environment reproduced in your brain as well. When you are with wise people, you will tend to think wise thoughts. When you are with foolish people, you will tend to think foolish thoughts. The same is true in the presence of good or evil, strong or weak, positive or negative people.

Just like you can block out light by not looking and overpower one sound with a louder one, you can shut out negative thoughts by not thinking them or overpower them with positive ones.

To sense is to perceive. Perception is thought. All senses are thought.

Everything is Thought.

Thought is Mind in Motion. Thought is vibration and vibration is Energy. To sense is to experience Energy in motion or E-motion. When you touch something, your body feels energy behaving in a certain way and your mind interprets it as hard, soft, cold, warm, smooth, rough, etc. Externally experienced things are external E-motions. Internally experienced things are internal Emotions. Feeling is perception of emotion. An emotion can run without your conscious realization until you feel and become aware of it.

Everything is Emotion. All emotion is energy in motion. Feelings are everything.

WHAT'S IN A NAME- Barack Obama

Just as an observation and talking point for those interested in the possibility that our language holds more meaning than has hitherto been commonly supposed, I would like to postulate that Barack Obama's success and seemingly magnetic/charismatic hold over many people, may be attributed (at least in part) to his name.

Before anyone laughs me out of court or considers this to be hocus-pocus, it has long been a belief of the Chinese that the number 8 is propitious mainly because eight in Chinese is pronounced "ba" and sounds like the word for prosperity which is pronounced "fa". While people were intrigued, no one was particularly dismissive of the Chinese Government's decision to start the Olympic Games on the 8/8/08 at 8pm. Instead it appears to have been globally accepted as an ancient cultural belief that one should have respect for.

What is interesting to me is that the great Sanskrit 'sacred sounds' known as mantric 'seed syllables' are OM, HUM, HRIH, and AH and the sound AH appears in both B-ah and F-ah.

According to the fabulous book The World is Sound, Nada Brahma by Joachim-Ernst Berendt, all language arises from one source - sound - and mantras are sacred sounds of a single word, syllable or entire phrase. The syllable man means intelligence, or thinking and feeling whilst Tram is the helping and protective power. A man-tram spreads its wings over intelligence, thinking and feeling; over man. The Tibetan Buddhist Lama Anagarika Govinda calls mantras' 'mental tools, tools of the mind'. He speaks of the mantra as primordial sound and as being 'pre-linguistic*

Out of the four sacred seed syllables, the greatest mantra is said to be OM - indeed it has been said of this mantra that its power alone can bring enlightenment. According to Joachim-Ernst, OM is 'the ascent towards universality'. HUM 'is the descent of universality into the depth of the human heart'. HRIH kindles the 'upward leaping flame of inspiration and devotion' but AH, in contrast is 'the expression of wonder and direct awareness'.

Wayne Dyer also seems to be fascinated by the power of sound. He spoke at length about the power of the syllable AH in his 2003 book about Japa meditation called Getting in the Gap. He points out that "the sound AH within the name God ( G AH D) is the same sound around the world..... Allah ( AH-LL- AH), Jehovah ( Je ho v- AH) Krishna( Kri-sh-n-AH). RA (r- AH) Yahweh ( Y-AH way)"

Wayne comments that, when repeated as a mantra, this sound keeps us in a prolonged state of conscious contact with our Source. He also points out that it is the only sound that we can make with virtually no effort. It is the exhalation of breath, the sound one naturally makes in ecstasy.

"The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run into it and are safe" Proverb

In the beginning was Brahman, with whom was the Word, and the word was with God, and the word was God.

The first part of the Lords Prayer -Our Father who art in heaven is read as...AH f AH th AH who AH-rt in Heaven hallowed be thy name. That's a 4 times repetition of the sacred sound.

And so it was that I noticed that in the name Barack Obama, especially when pronounced by an American, we hear:

B- AH r AH k Ob AH mAH which is another 4 times repetition.

Could it possibly be that, unknown to Mr Obama, his name carries a very powerful overtone which, the more it is repeated and beamed around the world, is subtly affecting us all at the vibrational level.

Still unsure of the power of this syllable? Think of the word Amen - AHHHH men, or consider that when we see a new born baby, or someone in distress, how we automatically say AH as a symbol of our love, empathy and caring.

Notice too:

Nirvana= Nerv AH n AH
In Buddhism this translates as: The ineffable ultimate in which one has attained disinterested wisdom and compassion.
and in Hinduism; Emancipation from ignorance and the extinction of all attachment.
it also refers to: An ideal condition of rest, harmony, stability, or joy.

or look at the Sufi Mantra- LA ILAHA ILLA' LLAH or L-AH I- L-AH h AH I L AH l - AH- (There is no God but God)

This whole subject of sound as creator of our world, permeating into many dimensions, is far too complex to cover in one short post but I highly recommend that you read Nada Brahma. This book is truly life changing.

In order to entice you further here is some of the foreword written by Fritjof Capra Ph.D., physicist and systems theorist:

It has been said since ancient times that the nature of reality is much closer to music than to a machine, and this has been confirmed by many discoveries in modern science. What's in a name? Is it possible that the name Barack Obama could be one of even greater significance than anyone has yet supposed.

THE FRAUD OF THE CRYSTAL SKULLS

Those of us who live in the UK were recently treated to a fascinating programme, courtesy of Channel 5, revealing the background behind the legend of the 13 crystal skulls. If you didn't catch it, this subject has also been covered extensively in other countries and media outlets for decades and received a terrific boost in 1998, with the release of the book you see in the image to the left. The story is now rivalling the interest shown towards the legend of the Holy Grail and Bloodline in The da Vinci Code spurred on by the recent premiere of the latest Hollywood, Indiana Jones Blockbuster - Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

I won't waste time repeating the legend at length when you can read about it here however, I would just say that the Channel 5 documentary was not a fluffy bit of sensationalism, but a clear look at the known facts behind the myth.

As a very quick precis however, the story is this: There are thought to be 13 skulls left behind by our ancient ancestors for us to find. The crystal they are fashioned out of is thought to contain vital information, which we are not yet evolved enough to extract!

Legend has it that at some time in the future, when the world reaches a point of crisis, all of these 13 skulls will have been discovered and brought together, then they will, in unison, divulge their secret information to the human race. The crystal is thought to act like silicon microchips and have the ability to retain massive amounts of information. We just have to learn to access it.

The skulls are said to have been purposefully left by the Meso-American culture as they knew the 'end times' would come, although some think they may even be extra-terrestrial in origin. Whatever their source, the belief was that they certainly date back to antiquity. The programme revealed however that modern technology has detected the use of shaping and polishing techniques which mean the skulls could not possibly be older than the late 19th century. They also unearthed fairly damning evidence that the woman who claims to have found the first skull in 1924 must have been colluding in some kind of fraud with her adoptive father.

To astrologers who deal in correspondence, the timing is apt. This surge of interest has, as I say, come on the back of a film release and as Mars is currently opposing Neptune, the aspect we associate with hype, spin, film, denial, fakes, deceit, fraud - as well as crystal - it automatically leads one to be more aware of a propensity for a great fantasy to be emerging at this juncture; one that would capture people's imagination across the globe (Neptune is imagination without boundaries). It cannot go without notice to astrologers that Pluto was at 0 degrees Capricorn (a World Point - see my newsletter) a sign placing of 'the unearthing of ancient artifacts', at the time of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull's release.

Stories with correspondence to Mars/Neptune don't happen in isolation. Cycles themselves are not based on superstition or mystical nonsense but on precise intervals of space and time. Although none of the content of the documentary was new information, it coming to our screens at this juncture is all part of the 'sacred geometry' of life - everything that occurs in apparent linear time seems to happen in rhythmic and measurable intervals.

I mention that Mars and Neptune are in opposition, this means the two have cycled to be astronomically 180 degrees from each other which is half the distance of one cycle away from the point when they were together in celestial longitude at the 0 degrees or start point. Each complete cycle of any planetary relationship is set against the baseline of 360 degrees, which is the standard amount of degrees in a circle ( to find out why read here) .

If you look at recent news stories around the world, you will see a preponderance of one's that equate to Mars/Neptune - and this is known to occur at every major juncture of the cycle. I have found lots of stories about the exposure of fraud, lies and delusion in one morning paper alone. We could posit that the atmosphere in recent days and weeks, as the Mars/Neptune aspect perfected, has been 'Neptunian'. There has been a lot of uncertainty around oil and gas prices, explosions in a plastics factory, lots of floods and typhoons and even the situation in Zimbabwe is redolent of Mars/Neptune - the delusions of the President have spun out of control.

Does this mean that more things of a correspondence to these two planets are happening, or is it just that our psyche picks them out? Perhaps journalists are somehow compelled to write to report on these stories over all others, and therefore we focus on them more? We just don't know. All we do know for sure is that there is a correlation between the phases of planetary cycles and events on Earth, on the physical and mental levels - all the planes of manifestation; visible and invisible.

And so, when we look at the birthcharts of the main characters in this tale; Frederick Mitchell - Hedges and his adopted daughter Anna, it is interesting to note that both were born at specific phases in the Mars/Neptune cycle. In Anna's chart we see the Mars/Neptune trine (120 degrees) and in Frederick's, the Mars/Neptune opposition ( 180 degrees).

On the day that Anna says she found the first and most famous of the Crystal Skulls - the so called Mitchell- Hedges, Skull of Doom- in a Mayan pyramid in Lubaantun, Belize (then British Honduras) 1 Jan 1924, Mars was exactly square (90 degrees) to Neptune.

In other words a distinct Mars/Neptune pattern flows through out this entire legend.

Frederick and Anna have taken their secrets to the grave, but my opinion as an astrologer, combined with those of the experts interviewed on the Channel 5 programme (and having now read all the varying viewpoints on sites such as these Jane Walsh Mitchell-Hedges Website Phil Coppens Wiki and More from Jane Walsh) has to be that Anna and Frederick were colluding in what we will politely call a tall-tale.

In Anna's chart her Sun Uranus conjunction is ruled by Saturn in Pisces, which is itself ruled by Neptune and in a grand trine - Mars/Neptune/Saturn. In other words her reality was shaped strongly by her imagination. This is someone who could easily perpetuate an ancient myth and spin and weave it to create a definition, identity and role for herself. We know too that Anna had a sister who tragically drowned at the age of 7, her father died of gassing and her Mother died in childbirth. All these things are very Neptunian. Had the sister been killed by a car or her father died of cancer - they wouldn't correlate to Neptune.

The fact that on her own website it documents that Frederick Mitchell - Hedges was a complete stranger, who happened to take a liking to her, is something that would raise eyebrows amongst the child protection or social services today. Somehow though this obviously traumatised young female, still only ten years old, was allowed to be whisked away by him. Does nobody else think it strange that he insisted on buying the ten year old girl the finest silk underwear?

I would be extremely interested to have discovered what the real nature of the relationship between Frederick and Anna was. For, with all the shared Scorpio planets and the Venus/Pluto synastry between them, whilst one correlation of this could be their association with archeology and unearthing ancient artifacts and legends, sadly the other could point to something altogether more sinister and 'unsavoury'.

Whatever the truth it may also have stayed in the realm of fantasy and it obviously did little harm to the well being of Anna who lived to be 100 years old and, as far as we can tell, worshipped rather then feared her adventurous 'Father'. She must have made more than a decent living from her 'pay per view' method of showing the skull. She lived an exciting life which fed her Sun/Uranus conjunction, as her many lecture tours took her on lots of travels. So, as far as happy outcomes are concerned, it all seems good.

As is usual though, especially with the run up to 2012 approaching, many people get openly upset if an exciting myth or legend is challenged. They look at the video footage of Anna (known to her father as Sammy) lecturing and talking very persuasively about the legend and want to believe her - and actually so do I. However, the overwhelming evidence from the background history of Frederick and Anna, their charts, the chart of the discovery of the skull and even the chart of the release of the film, all point to one thing - and I'm afraid that is a fantasy, a myth and perhaps unbeknownst to Anna but maybe well known to Frederick, a scam that developed legs and hasn't stopped running since.

I have no doubt however that crystal does have certain special properties and is a 'substance of the future' - even skulls made in the late 19th Century could indeed be able to 'capture information' in its environment and as we live in a holographic universe that could include information about all that is, will be and ever has been. As an object delivered from the jungles of Belize, and part of 13 others that will all link up though, no, I don't accept or agree with it.

The present owner of the Mitchell-Hedges crystal skull, Bill Homann, himself a very Neptunian sounding chap, has this message:

I believe the main message that the skull is trying to share with the world is for all of us to drop our egos and to work and support each other as if we are all one. That all living beings contribute to the whole and all are sacred. We are not separate from each other; we are all connected through love. Rather than live in our own single minded consciousness we need to embrace unity consciousness.

Now, that I do agree with but surely it's not the skull that is telling us that. Why, even Barack Obama is telling us that! It is our own ability to access ever higher states of consciousness and self awareness that is propelling us towards an awareness of unity - the same awareness that should be telling those with their eyes open that the Legend of the Crystal Skulls was, and is, a tale and a half!

Prepare to be amazed! I have watched this over and over again

SOUND IS VIBRATION - and vibration is life

The title says it all really. Watch these videos and combine this knowledge with the website I mentioned a few posts ago - Hans Kayser on harmonics - and my article on the Seven Universal Laws and you have 'The Secret'. As one author pointed out, even when you are dead, forces are interacting with your body causing it to vibrate in its decomposition to ashes!

LAW 3: Nothing rests; everything moves, everything vibrates

One of the explanations for how astrology 'works' has to be that the frequencies transmitted in the ethers, at the time of the formation of the embryo (culminating at birth) determine to what, and to whom, a person will have a natural resonance, or 'attunement' to throughout their life. These vibrational waves travelling across the Universe are (possibly) altered by the different locations of the planets and the angular distances between them and the Earth, at the location in question. In the final analysis everything is energy and we are all entangled in a giant matrix of it - light, colour, sound etc.

Looking at this video about resonance on You Tube, I was struck by the similarity of the opening shot to how the female human egg looks under the microscope just before the sperm is introduced in a procedure known as ICSI. This video also has more than one part. In subsequent ones, the perturbations of the sand/lycopodium, at certain brief junctures, mimic (to my eye) the embryo development as it divides before being implanted back into the woman's body in IVF treatment.

The obvious question here has to be, can the thought vibrations emanating from the people in any relationship to the embryo - not necessarily in proximity - have an effect on its development or viability? Can thoughts affect the outcome of IVF?

Moving on, here is a video that shows entrainment. Entrainment is a well known phenomenon that was first discovered when pendulum clocks, kept in close vicinity to each other, were noted to fall into a synchronous ticking motion. Nowadays the example most often given to show entrainment at work is the phenomenon of women sharing houses, or any living space, for a period of time. After a while their menstrual cycles will naturally fall into synchronisation.

Something else that I came across this week that dovetails nicely with this topic of vibration, especially in the thought world, is the work of Cell Biologist Dr Bruce Lipton.

We often believe that our children have inherited our traits and mannerisms and say, 'Oh it's in the genes' but Dr Lipton's research has shown that DNA doesn't control our biology, but the thoughts and signals from outside the cell do. He goes on to tell us .......

Epigenetic science demonstrates that the cell’s nucleus is a read-write hard disk, wherein gene software is programmed by the membrane’s response to environmental perceptions.

What this suggests to me is that, when you see your child do something and observe similarity to your own responses, they may actually have become entrained to your thought patterns and they are in synch with your beliefs and environmental circumstances. Consequently they grow up to be very similar.

You see this to some extent in the physical characteristics of adopted children. They often grow up to look uncannily like the non biological parents, something that cannot be explained away as just being similar mannerisms, or similar styles of clothing/haircuts.

Please remember I am no expert; I'm just thinking out loud here. This type of research is still in its early days and, as most things eventually do, turns established paradigms on their head. I sincerely doubt that Dr Lipton's work is being well received by the 'old school'.

This year, astrology wise, we have a Saturn/Uranus opposition. This speaks of significant break throughs (Uranus) in Science ( Saturn) and surprising changes (Uranus) to established beliefs and traditions (Saturn) especially in the area of information(Virgo) and waves (Pisces). As energy has a wave form I wonder what changes may arise to our established laws of physics?As Uranus in Pisces also corresponds to music, and Saturn in Virgo to the organisation of tones and composition, it may well be that there is some new information about how sound affects reality due to come to light - or at least being hotly debated (the opposition).

I'm just not sure about the truth at the heart of genetic research. However, watching the videos on cymatics (the study of vibration) above, one cannot help but see an obvious truth about creation - that we are all linked together via invisible sound frequencies.

In the beginning was the Word (sound).

When you look at the inter connectivity of the global village via the Internet it sounds incredibly analogous to one of Dr Lipton's observations about is discoveries in the area of cell communication.........

It was a transformational moment for me to discover that I am NOT a biochemical robot, but a spiritually controlled community of programmable cells who is now collaborating with other cell “communities”

WHAT ARE THE EARTHLINGS DOING?

This video is not the normal content for Cosmic Cipher but I find that there's something utterly fascinating about it and I wanted to share it with you. This week, 2nd May 15.12 GMT, will mark the 56th anniversary of the first commercial jet airline flight.

I find this video to be a stark reminder of just how far we have come and developed as a 'global village' in the past six decades. We, in the western world, couldn't be any more connected by transport, telephony, television or postal links and yet the irony is that the majority of people are still no nearer to being able to connect to what's really going on in their heart and openly express their true thoughts, feelings fears, hopes and wishes with their fellow planetary inhabitants. Just an observation!

Millions of people move about planet Earth by airplane every day. Hundreds of thousands of airplane flights take place over the US every day. A dramatic graphical depiction of these flights was created by Aaron Koblin and is shown above. The movie depicts flight patterns that occurred over a few days in 2005 March. The count on the lower left shows the number of flights USA-related flights at the time listed on the lower right. The trails shown are not contrails but rather generated artificially by a computer algorithm. Major cities in North America and the USA are discernable. Inspection of the movie shows that some times of the day are busier than others, indicating that flights leave some destinations at times that are convenient for travelers. In terms of distance, flying to a distant location is much safer than driving to that location. Flying in an airplane, however, remains slightly more dangerous than driving to a nearby airport.

THE EMERALD TABLET

One of the most powerful and influential texts to have survived from ancient times is The Emerald Tablet of Hermes Trismegistus. Also known as the Smaragdine Table, this work contains the philosophical idea that the pattern of the universe can only be comprehended when one recognises that all things on Earth and in Heaven are interlinked. Therefore those who gain a greater understanding of themselves will automatically have established a greater understanding of the entire nature of existence.

The text of the tablet states that the wisdom of the whole Universe is divided into three parts and, because Hermes understood them all, he was known by the title of 'Three times great' or Trismegistus.

The three areas are Alchemy, Astrology and Theurgy (a type of divine intervention or Magic). Interestingly there are parallels between the early practice of many secret societies e.g., The Eleusian Mystery schools, Martinism, Freemasonry, The Knights Templar and Rosicrucianism. Although each has its own history there is a fusion of beliefs that can all be traced back to the Hermetic (sealed) literature that formed the magical education of Egyptian Priests.

These societies were deemed 'secret' because the knowledge either had to be preserved from corruption by keeping it 'underground' and hidden (occulted) or in later times due to persecution. Also they were only open to those who were deemed suitable for instruction. Thus the knowledge was transmitted via word of mouth or ritual. Ritualism was used as profound knowledge was more easily absorbable to the mind in abstract form, but also because rituals evoked magical forces. If the knowledge was ever committed to the written form it was often veiled in allegory, symbolism and cipher to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands.

Far from many of these organisations being sinister (although in modern times certain factions have quite patently corrupted the initial intention) the aim of Freemasonry and other mystery schools and societies was the organised sharing of spiritual and moral lessons in order to build up, and correctly know, the 'Temple of the spirit'. Again, if one could know how he was 'built' and what he was crafted from, he would know how the Universe was built around him.

The ancient term of 'thrice great' referring, as we say to the knowledge of Hermes, can be equated to the triangle within the circle of spirit and the square of matter - the triangle also representing three alchemical substances (Salt, Mercury and Sulphur) but also the 'Trinity' which formed the fundamental tenet of these societies; Brotherly love, Relief and Truth... Our Father (Mind) Son (Body/Man) and Holy spirit (Spirit/Soul) and in more recent times even Liberty, Equality and Fraternity. The whole undivided essence of God is said to belong equally to each part of the Trinity.

Throughout history the knowledge was passed from Master to Initiate only after one had proved their commitment to the cause of striving to perfect themselves and thereby contributing to wider society. Nowadays the mystery school teachings have come out from the 'closet' and are freely available but they will still mean little to the person who has not been initiated (or become self-versed) in the three areas of Alchemy, Astrology and Theurgy. Here, for example is the text from the Emerald Tablet:

VERBA SECRETORUM HERMETIS.

1. It is true, certain, and without falsehood, that whatever is below is like that which is above; and that which is above is like that which is below: to accomplish the one wonderful work.

2. As all things are derived from the One Only Thing, by the will and by the word of the One Only One who created it in His Mind, so all things owe their existence to this Unity by the order of Nature, and can be improved by Adaptation to that Mind.

3. Its Father is the Sun; its Mother is the Moon; the Wind carries it in its womb; and its nurse is the Earth.

4. This Thing is the Father of all perfect things in the world.

5. Its power is most perfect when it has again been changed into Earth.

6. Separate the Earth from the Fire, the subtle from the gross, but carefully and with great judgement and skill.

7. It ascends from earth to heaven, and descends again, new born, to the earth, taking unto itself thereby the power of the Above and the Below.

8. Thus the splendor of the whole world will be thine, and all darkness shall flee from thee.

9. This is the strongest of all powers, the Force of all forces, for it overcometh all subtle things and can penetrate all that is solid.

10. For thus was the world created, and rare combinations, and wonders of many kinds are wrought.

11. Hence I am called HERMES TRISMEGISTUS, having mastered the three parts of the wisdom of the whole world.

12. What I have to say about the masterpiece of the alchemical art, the Solar Work, is now ended.

In recent times the burgeoning interest in evoking 'magical forces' through control of the mind and will - such as via the Law of Attraction or Law of Correspondence - is opening people' s eyes and ears to the true nature of our Universe. To those who are willing to delve into the past, there are many secrets still to unfold. Attempts at understanding, or even just the openness to see the patterns and interconnectedness of man and his environment, is the first step to leading a more fulfilling and harmonious life.

THE VIBRATION OF TRUTH

There are so many people who I would like to chain to a chair and say 'Hey listen, and I mean really listen to these words' but I can't do that. Even if I could I wouldn't. I've long since learned that we all have to come to this knowledge and understanding in our own way and in our own time. If you have arrived here and just listened to this video, know that, even if you already knew the words in this video as truth, you were possibly meant to hear them again.

Notice too the particular quality and 'sound' of truth. It has it's own vibration and although this sounds really cliched, notice how and it really does speak to the heart and not the head. There are other people who can impart a very similar message but it just goes in one ear and out the other. We hear it but it doesn't resonate deep within.

The Universal Law states that one may change their mental vibrations by an act of attention. Where attention goes, energy flows. By deliberately placing our thoughts on the higher planes, i.e the positive, the good and what we know to be of value, then disengaging from people, situations and thoughts that bring us down, slowly, but surely, higher vibrations will replace the lower. This is known as the art of mental transmutation and it is in this place that miracles can and will occur.

APPLYING THE DOCTRINE OF SIGNATURES IN 2008

The Doctrine of Signatures is, at heart, another term for the Hermetic Law of Correspondence. When talking to a Homeopath or Herbalist they are more likely to refer to the former term because the Doctrine of Signatures relates specifically to the similarity of plants and herbs (and their medicinal uses) to parts of the body i.e by careful observation one can learn the healing properties of a plant from some aspect of its 'nature' or place of growing.

In essence however since time immemorial all healers (and shamans) were herbalists, alchemists and astrologers. The fundamental framework of all three disciplines is anchored in the seven Hermetic Universal Laws, one of which is The Law of Correspondence - a law that was plainly visible to those with a spiritual eye.

Today we call mainstream healers, Medical Doctors. The herbs are combined with chemicals or the herbal properties are mimicked artificially and sold as Pharmaceuticals. Many of our Doctors in 2008 who are not also interested in alternative medicine sadly lack the 'spiritual eye' to notice correspondences.

For example The Doctrine of Signatures and Law of Correspondence philosophies postulate that in order to understand fever one should note the activity (correspondence) to volcanoes. An alternative healer when presented with fever or boils will ask about heat and what is angering the patient and causing them to erupt. Few Medical Doctors will make the immediate connections. The healer using Doctrine of Signatures will find a herb that has the properties of Mars and Pluto and administer either by sympathy (a little of the same will cure) or antipathy (a little of the opposite will cure i.e. find something to cool the body and emotions).

The non 'medical' astrologer, whilst not a healer of the physical body, will today 'treat' by helping the person to understand how they are intricately connected to the Cosmos. They will be advised that their fever is a symptom of Martian type correspondences that will either pass or intensify depending on action taken via free will. With a straightforward Mars/Pluto signature one could aim to 'bring to the surface' anything that has been internalised by talking suppressed emotions through, or by using martian type activities to redirect the energy.

The term Doctrine of Signatures is popularly ascribed to man called Paracelsus (1493-1541). However Paracelsus was a 'nom de plume'. Paracelsus was in fact the Swiss gentleman Phillippus Aureolus who later took the name Theophrastus Bombastus Von Hohenheim when he received a Baccalaureate in Medicine from the University of Vienna in 1510. Theophrastus subsequently adopted the surname of ParaCelsus as it breaks down into the words para -Celsus (beyond - Celsus).

Aulus Celsus was an medicinal 'encyclopedist' (25-50BC) and thanks to the tremendous dedication of Bill Thayer we can all read the translated work of Celsus' major treatise called De Medicina here)

As is usual when we look back through history we find that nothing is truly original in thought but simply an expanded or rewritten version of a previously known or perceived truth. It is clear that even prior to the time of Celsus the Law of Correspondence was already in use.

So when we read that in the early 1600's Jakob Bohme was responsible for the introduction of The Doctrine of Signatures via his book "Signatura Rerum; The Signature of all Things" we know that he was simply following Paracelsus and re-presenting esoteric knowledge that had been suppressed in the Dark Ages and was gradually finding it's way back to the light and into the printed word (but was still branded as heretical thought).

So how can The Doctrine help you in 2008? Well Saturn is passing through the sign of Virgo. As such the astrological symbolism (or correspondence) is that we will, as a collective, become more concerned about what we put into our bodies in the form of foodstuffs. We must pay more strict (SA) attention to our diet and daily habits (Virgo). One way to do this is to incorporate the ancient (Capricorn) truths (Pluto) into our lives.

YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT

Anthelme Brillat-Savarin wrote, in Physiologie du Gout, ou Meditations de Gastronomie Transcendante, 1826:

"Dis-moi ce que tu manges, je te dirai ce que tu es." [Tell me what you eat and I will tell you what you are].

In an essay entitled Concerning Spiritualism and Materialism, 1863/4, Ludwig Andreas Feuerbach wrote:

"Der Mensch ist, was er ißt."

That translates into English as 'man is what he eats'. Neither Brillat-Savarin or Feuerbach meant their quotations to be taken literally. They were stating that that the food one eats has a bearing on what one's state of mind and health.

"Ninety per cent of the diseases known to man are caused by cheap foodstuffs. You are what you eat."

The following list of correspondences has been doing the rounds via e-mail recently and although I do not know the original source much of the information conforms to the Doctrine of Signatures/Law of Correspondence and you may like to alter your diet accordingly in light of this knowledge.

Foods and their correspondences:

CARROTS
A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye; and science now shows that carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.

GRAPES
Many grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows that grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food.

TOMATOES*
A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart is red and has four chambers. All of the research shows tomatoes are indeed pure heart and blood food.

WALNUTS
A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper Cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds are on the nut just like the neo-cortex. We now know that walnuts help develop over 3 dozen neuro-transmitters for brain function.

KIDNEY BEANS
Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the Human kidneys.

CELERY
Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don't have enough Sodium in your diet the body pulls it from the bones, making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.

SWEET POTATOES
Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the glycaemic index of diabetics.

ONIONS
Onions look like body cells. Today's research shows that onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes.

CITRUS FRUITS
Grapefruits, Oranges, and other Citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.

PEANUTS
Listen up guys....Peanuts have a profound effect on the testicles and sexual libido. Peanuts were banned as a food for males by the church during the middle ages. Most people don't realize that arginine, the main component of Viagra, comes from peanuts.

Bananas, Cucumber, Zucchini and more target the size and strength of the male sexual organ.

and finally for the girls.....

OLIVES
Olives assist the health and function of the ovaries.

CAUGHT UP IN THE MATRIX

I don't normally like to post about the same subject twice but I just wanted to drop by to report that the synchronicities continue to flow in thick and fast with regard to my previous post on the Infinity Symbol, its origins and possible correlations.

Here is the most magnificent figure of eight picture sent by Claire from North Dakota. Meanwhile immersed 'in the flow' I just happened to trip across a book by someone called Hahn about Spin Echoes (used in Radiology and Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and he relates these echoes to the figure of eight, infinity shape.

Next stop on the coincidence trail was a paper from the Department of Philosophy at Newcastle University written by Melanie Purcell. It is entitled:

"What are the relationships between Infinity and Zero? The Implications of A Cyclic Universe and the Diagonally Woven Single Joined Thread Klein Bottle."

Here's just one extract from this totally fascinating paper:

What is of importance is that alchemy describes the process of a system. It describes the emergence of the universe as a process of transformation from a nonspatial nontemporal void into the physical spacetime reality of a cyclic universe. This process of transformation is common to all things. The interconnectedness of all things is realised through the structural transformations of process and like the effect of a bootstrap or in Sheldrake’s terminology a morphic resonance (see Sheldrake 1987) of formative causation, the very act of creation itself binds everything together as one, and provides access to the relationships between things.

In the alchemy of Newton we see that his interest was not only spiritual in inclination as he was fascinated by the properties of metals using alchemy to “‘probe the internal structure of its particle’, to find those “certain forces by which the particles of bodies...are either mutually impelled towards one another ... or are repelled and recede from one another”, for that, he said, “was the burden of philosophy’”(see Dobbs, 1975).

So there I was reading Newton's words about particles on Melanie's site when my inbox pinged and I opened a message from a reader called Rich. Rich was urging me to add Chaos Theory to the list of Universal Laws and pointing me to the following diagram which shows the shape of a P-Orbital; the wave like behaviour of an electron in an atom. Here's the shape of a P- Orbital:

Wow Rich! Thank you and....synchronous or what?!

I have heard of Chaos Theory but other than its association with Fractals and Zipfs Law, I'm no expert. However there is a pretty idiot proof primer on the subject here and I guess Rich could equally be referring to my experiencing ongoing synchronicities concerning the Analemma and infinity shapes, as he could be to my query about what the link is between all this information I keep coming across.

If you haven't got time to read about it, the essence of Chaos Theory is that in any mass of seemingly unrelated data there is actually an underlying order. However I don't know if it should be added to the Universal Laws because it is really just Science agreeing with what astrology and the ancient Laws and texts have revealed to us all along - that everything is part of the All; the great tapestry of Life in which each thread is part of a greater picture and every part affects the whole (even if we can't see the larger pattern). These days, however, it's not called a tapestry, it's known as The Matrix and finds its earth bound correspondence in The World Wide Web.

I'll be posting more astrology/esoteric/metaphysical based articles in 2008. If you want to make it a year where you get to grips with some of this Quantum Theory/Mechanics stuff (in layman's terms) and use it to change your life for the better I highly recommend you beg steal or borrow the book, The Divine Matrix By Gregg Braden. In this book he references this very same correspondence between the 'Web of Life' and the WWW and mentions, by way of analogy, how if you want a better connection with what's 'out there' you may need to look at what operating system you are using. Perhaps it's time for an update in 2008. Microsoft didn't call their system Windows by chance!

ZEITGEIST, INFINITY SYMBOL & THE SUN

All the wisdom of the ages is self-contained within the fundamental tenets of astrological practice. The study of Hermetic literature reveals the Universal Laws and through a study of symbolism, numerology and geometry one can begin to see the pattern running through all of creation.

As an astrologer I never dismiss coincidences. They are messages arriving via the unconscious. They are invisible threads that are trying to help us determine natures laws, patterns and harmony. Recently I have had a run of synchronicities and I'm quite baffled as to where they may be leading. I would like to discuss here how these 'coincidences' might fit together - although I freely admit it would take a much greater mind than I possess to make any practical sense of what is being brought to my door.

Firstly let me tell you that from a young age I have doodled spirals and the symbol for infinity and pondered on the meaning of them. Recently I read that the infinity symbol (above) is of unknown origin. This came to my notice within days of seeing the film Zeitgeist and writing about it in my previous post.

Those of you who have yet to see this not-for- profit movie may at this point like to read my previous post and perhaps then go on to view Part One of the movie*. Having done so (and ensure you have a comfortable seat because it is 20 minutes of compelling viewing) please contemplate the next image on this page, that 'coincidentally' also came to my attention this week.

This is an image known as the Analemma - a time lapse photograph of the annual passage of the Sun over Earth - rising to its highest declination North and then moving on down to its lowest declination South (from the Equator) as seen from a static position on Earth. In other words this is a visual depiction of the path of the Sun and the Solstice points. The curvature shows the Solstices - one of which we meet now 20th thru 23rd December 2007 as the Sun appears to stand still at 23.26 degrees of Southern declination. The other turning point occurs at the Summer Solstice in June.

It is important to know however that the visual turning point (Zeitgeist viewers take note) occurs on 25th December - Christmas Day. This is the date that day length visibly starts to change. To the ancients, who carefully tracked the daily position of any visible planet - but most especially the life-giving Sun - this symbol of time would surely have been noted. I'm sure archaeologists will have found regular occurrences of its appearance on cave walls and wood carvings as well as in Temples and other record and time-keeping artifacts. To my eyes it seems obvious that this is where the symbol for infinity must have arisen - infinity being a never ending factor (loop) of time and space.

It also seems clear to me that there would be some correspondence on Earth to this heavenly shape which looks like a figure 8 because the Sun was held in such reverence and worshipped as a God.

Obviously we know of the lines of the Tropics which match the solstices but surely our ancestors would have paid these latitudes and this symbol very special attention.

Let's have a recap on 'The Tropics'......The highest declination North of the Sun marks what we call the Tropic of Cancer around the Earth's sphere. The opposite declination marks the Tropic of Capricorn. If your astronomy and geography is not up to scratch, imagine holding a pen to a ball about halfway up from its midline and then turning the ball to trace a line around its circumference. The pen point would represent the Sun's position on the days it reaches its highest declination North and the ball would be the Earth. The same can be repeated for the other Tropic.

If you then stuck a map around the ball and squashed it out flat you would get a line from left to right. Here we can see this on a flat map of the globe. The line is always at 23 degrees and 26 minutes of latitude North and South, matching the Sun's highest declination at the Solstices. Therefore this red line is effectively the 'line of Christmas' projected onto the turning globe and is known as The Tropic of Capricorn

It would indeed be fascinating to see what Temples and artifacts lie in locations at this exact latitude (and those of the Tropic of Cancer The line of Easter.

LEMNISCATE
The proper name for the infinity symbol is known as the Lemniscus. How intriguing then that in anatomy this term is used for:
'A bundle of nerve fibers ascending from sensory nuclei in the spinal cord and the rhombencephalon to the thalamus'. This is the part of the body which amongst other things senses vibration.

In mathematics it refers to several things most well known being the Lemniscate of Bernoulli from the family of Cassini Curves, and the Lemniscate of Gerono and you might like to meditate on this applet here Interestingly the philosophers Goethe and Steiner both lectured extensively on the properties of the Lemniscate

Those of you who are less of a 'connect-the-dots' and 'no coincidences' type mind may have completely lost me now. For others all this information will be resonating strongly. What is the link between the sign in the heavens of the path of the Sun and its correspondence to terrestrial life and the mysteries of our existence? Let's continue to look. The infinity sign resembles the number 8. This number has always held occult significance. It relates to the sign of Scorpio, it is the number of pathways in the Buddhist faith, it is the atomic number of oxygen and in physics is known as a magic number ......

Surfing around the Internet I found this:

The number 8 represents infinity. It has the profile of the Mobius strip. In fact the Mobius strip -- a distorted one -- is a circle - The symbol of completion and wholeness. However the figure 8 contains 2 circles therefore 8 represents a completion, like the circle, but on a new level, or another octaves, an end and a beginning. The number of days in a week is 7, but the 8th day, say a Monday, is the beginning of a new week. In nature every 8th wave arriving at the the sea shore is bigger than the rest. In the same way, in music, the 8th note is another octave.

8 hertz, very interestingly, is the brainwave frequency healers and mystics most tune into. Furthermore, 8 hertz is Schumann's Resonance~the frequency of earth (earth vibration). Humans cannot survive without it. Astronauts need a 8 htz generator to maintain health. Life depends on that frequency, otherwise we would not buzz. It's a common alpha frequency meditators frequency slip into for so called 'expanded consciousness' .

8 also ties in closely with DNA groupings 8x8=64. 8x8=64 squares of the I-ching, and the 8x8=64 squares of a chess board (that represent the Universe.)

This continues to illicit synchronous connections because we have already seen that in anatomy the Lemnisci is the seat of vibration. Additionally, before finding this, I had never heard of a Mobius Strip but upon looking it up I see that it has correlations to the shape of interlocking DNA strands.

'Curiouser and curiouser' said Alice in Wonderland. Are the secrets of life and time locked up in the figure 8? Certainly without our Sun tracing this shape, life as we know it would not exist.

It is also possible that linear time was not even a concept familiar to our very ancient ancestors in the way we would automatically presume. All that they were probably aware of was cyclical time. The constant cycles of nature and the heavens.

As Pluto moves into Capricorn, our understanding of the nature of time is set to be transformed. I recently said that I believe this will come about as a result of the Particle Accelerator tests at Cern (see my previous post) I was therefore fascinated to find repeated references on the Internet to the Lemniscate, Enrico Fermi and methods of splitting the atom!

Whilst Physicists come at the problem from their own perspective Astrologers have always known that Science and Spirituality are closer than they have ever been and all 'roads' are leading to the same knowledge, albeit via a different route.

Nature laws and cycles, documented in esoteric and alchemical literature, contain the key that will one day unlock to the door of the temple of knowledge and reveal the mysteries of life. In my next post I will look at the some more symbols associated with the Sun/Earth correspondences.

ASTROTHEOLOGY - The Son/Sun On The Cross

In my recent newsletter I wrote the following:... Sagittarius corresponds to the passage of consciousness from one state to another. In this respect we can see that Jupiter and Pluto coming together in Sag can speak of a moment pregnant with possibility for a leap in consciousness. Jupiter/Pluto cycles bring issues to the fore that bring you face to face with your moral code and faith.

In another newsletter, one sent out by astrologer Eric Francis, when observing the same Jupiter/Pluto conjunction (a 13 year cycle) he wrote:- I see the truth coming out about something ridiculously obvious..

Eric's words immediately caught my eye because earlier that very week I had discovered that a truth, which once it is heard does indeed seem 'ridiculously obvious', is making its way to people's ears and eyes. It's a truth which does 'force people to confront their faith' and is also so highly symbolic of a Jupiter/Pluto conjunction in the sign of Sagittarius, that it cannot be ignored. Before I elaborate further let me just say this.........

What astrologers across the World are wholeheartedly agreed upon is that this coming conjunction is critical in regard to the emergence of some truth that will, over the course of 2008 and beyond (as Pluto settles into the sign of Capricorn) begin to rock our world and somehow change our view of reality.

I personally believe that the most obvious way that it will impact us on a collective basis, is by causing us to question the nature of our existence with regard to the physical laws which govern it. I have said before that the experiments due to take place with the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. Geneva will probably be the catalyst*.

Sir Issac Newton was a Capricorn and as Pluto moves further into this sign, and closer to his natal Sun, which coincidentally will be at the exact Jupiter/Pluto opposition point, we can expect a huge resurgence of interest, and possible transformation, in the areas of his discoveries;Universal Gravitation, Classical Optics. Newtonian Mechanics and Infinitesimal Calculus. Albert Einstein was a Pisces and his chart is also significantly highlighted.

Throughout Pluto's sojourn in Capricorn we will also be forced to question the foundation and fundamental truth of some of the ancient traditions that we have built or lives upon. The rulebook may have to be rewritten with regard to the spiritual laws that many of us use to guide our lives by.

Another area of 'reaction' is likely to be in the area of authority; the power base of society. The Monarchy, Presidential office and Policing (police force) systems are all likely to undergo profound change. Already we can witness the ongoing discussion in political circles regarding the legitimate extent of governmental authority in general.

To this end it is of no surprise to me that myself, and many others (my thanks to Katie Smith) have been drawn to a not-for-profit movie released earlier this year. It is gathering viewing momentum and is rocking the foundations of many people's traditional beliefs about the fundamental tenets of Christianity. The film is called Zeitgeist. It is now one of the top ten most viewed film on the Internet and I highly recommend that you watch Part I which deals with the subject of Astrotheology (Theology founded on the movement of Celestial objects, and of the laws which regulate their movements).

The film is over 2 hrs long and divided into three parts with a nine minute introduction. I would like to politely suggest that you do not watch the introduction but go straight to Part I. Once you have seen this, which is approximately 27 minutes long, I can almost guarantee you will make time to watch the entire movie.

I have little comment to make here about Part II and II. The reasons for this will become clear once you have viewed it. My only observation would be that Part I is entirely factual and is a truth long known to students of esoteric literature and astrology. For this reason I am also giving you some links so that you might research it all for yourself. I would also add here that..

Our detractors, and that includes a large majority of Scientists, just don't get it do they! Astrology is not about some jiggery-pokery where we convene in secret meetings and try and make events in the sky fit with those on Earth. It's simply a symbolic language.

I had a quick Google of the word Symbol and here's what Wiki has to say about it:

Symbols are objects, characters, or other concrete representations of ideas, concepts, or other abstractions. For example, in the United States, Canada, Australia and Great Britain, a red octagon is a symbol for the traffic sign meaning "STOP".

All language is made up of symbols. The word "cat", whether spoken or written, is not a cat, but is a symbol for a cat.

Etymology
The word "symbol" came to the English language by way of Middle English, from Old French, from Latin, from the Greek σύμβολον (sýmbolon) from the root words συν- (syn-) meaning "together" and βολή (bolē) "a throw", having the approximate meaning of "to throw together", literally a "co-incidence".

Now I can't find any proof of this, although I have tried, but it seems to me that the word coincidence must come from the root of Sidus (gen:Sideris), which means stars. We know the word Consider literally means 'with the stars' and there is a branch of astrology known as Sidereal, meaning 'pertaining to the stars'. Therefore to my mind the word coincide probably relates way back in history to co -inSIDE and this has subtly changed over the years.

To Coincide means 'a coming together' and probably has its roots in astrological or astronomical symbolism. (astrology was formerly known as astronomy). When the stars come together in the sky or astrologers look at the meaning of cross aspects in charts, this is known as Syn-astry from the root words συν- (syn-) meaning "together". With ast-ry from aster for Star it means stars together. Obviously I'm no etymologist or botanist, but it seems that Michelmas Daisies, also known as the aster genus, are so called because they look like stars spread around the Earth when they bloom. Now if that isn't symbolic, I don't know what is!

The Aster

Sometimes astrology can seem very convoluted even to astrologers. At heart though it is really so simple to those who can converse in symbols. In ancient times the Egyptians didn't run to their text books to see what the meaning of a planetary conjunction or a comet was. If the Nile flooded every time Sirius had a heliacal rising, or a Pharaoh or leader died every time a comet appeared, guess what, these became symbolic of these events. Just like the Red Stop sign symbol, mentioned above, became a Universal symbol to halt.

Our ancient ancestors livelihood was inextricably linked with their environment, and that included the dome of sky around them. Many of the symbols in use today have their origins in antiquity, when all that existed was the human being, animals and the Earth and sky.

These skywatchers noted that Jupiter, or whatever they called it between them, is a large planet. They also knew that what happened on the Earth whenever Jupiter was prominent, or coincident, with another star or planet appeared to coincide with abundance or growth. Astrologers today still see Jupiter as symbolising large things and conditions of growth, and even evolvement.

You'd need to consult an expert in archaeoastronomy, astrology & ancient egypt to fill in the details of the emergence of symbols over 4,000 years ago but - and here's the point of this post - look what was in the news today :

Many astrologers will have seen this news item and swiftly exclaimed 'Ah-ha'... large (Jupiter) Scorpion, when Sun is in Scorpio bringing these things 'to light'. It really is that literal a translation.

However, there's more. We then cast our gaze skywards (or these days to our ephemeris) and we see Jupiter and the Scorpio planet, Pluto are edging towards a pretty unusual co-insidence.

PLUTO AT THE GALACTIC CENTRE

One of the consequences of being an astrologer is that I see meaning, connections and correspondence in every occurrence in life. (Please notice that I wrote ' in life' and not in my life'. There's a subtle but profound difference that is worthy of further contemplation). This week a lady called Claire made contact with me and pointed me towards a website about a society working towards facilitating Higher Consciousness. When you open this site it leads to an introductory video presentation. What struck me about the timing of being given this URL is the fact that Pluto is once again conjoined to the Galactic Centre. Take a look and make the link yourself.

One of the paragraphs of text in this aforementioned presentation cries out for repetition. It states:

Outcomes flow from
What I think and,
What I deem is true
For how I act and
What I accept
Steers the course
That will ensue

That verse if probably one of THE most important messages that one can hear in life. If this is a new concept to you, please read it, re-read it and read again. When the student is ready the teacher will appear!

As some of you who have arrived from my website www.KathrynCassidy.com will know I have three blogs. My main one is 'Collaborate With Fate' and although I don't get to update this Cosmic Cipher one and my Cosmic Ordering Blog as often as I would like, the latter is there purely and simply to expand on the above verse, which stated another way is The Law of Attraction.

Astrology is not a stand alone subject. Anyone with a true understanding of the subject realises that it is simply the 'storefront'. Behind its most well known facade of Sun Signs and predictive techniques, astrology brings together all the laws of the Universe and allows us to apply them on a universal and a very personal basis. As Astrologer Alan Leo wrote in 1910:

The first principle upon which the science of astrology rests is, that the whole Universe is actually what the term implies - a unity; and that a law which is found in manifestation in one portion of the Universe must also be equally operative throughout the whole.

The second principle is, that by a study of the motions and relative positions of the planets the operations of these laws may be observed, measured and determined.

From these two principles, aided by a mind capable of metaphysical grasp of the metaphysical significance of phenomena, the whole science of astrology can be deduced. It is a mistake far too prevalent even among thoughtful and unprejudiced people to suppose that the present interest in astrology is merely the decadent revival of an ancient superstition based entirely on accepted tradition. The study of astrology is a means of comprehending nature's laws.

Although there are many excellent books dealing with the theory of astrological interpretation, as Alan Leo confirms, it is not until one understands some fundamental metaphysical principles that one is able to use the Science for its greatest good. On the website that Claire sent me I found the following and these describe some of those principles:-

Illusion: A Scientific Perspective [pages 319, 320 – 321]

“In 1982, a research team from the University of Paris, headed by physicist Alain Aspect, performed a series of experiments that suggested a holographic paradigm for the world. …[H]is Paris team discovered that sub-atomic particles appear to instantaneously communicate with each other, whether the distance between them is ten feet or ten billion miles. Aspect’s findings carry implications that most scientist are unprepared to accept.[Physicist, David] Bohm, on the other hand, went far ahead of his colleagues and put forth the interpretation that objective reality does not exist, that despite its apparent solidity, the universe is a phantasm, a gigantic and splendidly detailed hologram. In other words, the physical world is an illusion, the full nature of which we are only beginning to understand.”

Pluto's conjunction to the Galactic Centre is bringing profound insights to many. THE MAYANS & 2012 - Consciousness change

One of my fellow bloggers has a prolific output, posting on an almost daily basis. He rarely takes a vacation. I revealed my feelings of awe at his unswerving commitment to this free service. He confessed that he was tired but, having built up his readership over many years, he was ensuring his readership didn't fall away. On the face of it this sounds very logical, fewer updates, fewer readers. However his comment caused me to recall a phenomenon which I had written about on my Collaborate With Fate Blog back in February 2006. Here is that information again.....

ZIPF'S LAW
This law is known as a power law. Roughly translated it states that the frequency of occurrence of an event will eventually settle down into a harmonic arrangement. and this law can be observed at work in a multitude of events. Amongst the most common are:-

1. Frequency of accesses to web pages
2. Frequency of keyword usage in a search engine
3. Words in the English language
4. For instance, words in Shakespeare’s play Hamlet.
5. Populations of cities
6. Income Distribution amongst the top earning 3% of individuals
7. Size of earthquakes
8. Notes in musical performances
9. Revenue of corporations
10. Gold records by musical artist
11. Internet traffic by site
12. Names in a population

Let's look at number 5 as an example. In 1930 George Kingsley Zipf took note of the population of 50 cities in the United States. He discovered that if New York was the largest, the second largest city had half the population of New York, the third largest had one third the population of New York and so on down until the 50th city which had exactly one fiftieth the population of New York. This holds true today and across the series of examples above and many others too ......

What has this got to do with my fellow bloggers industriousness? Well I had already been noticing that Zipf's law, or at least some law, was applying to my web pages. The amount of traffic I was getting on my three blogs and website was maintaining an even mean number, often right down to identical numbers each day, week in and week out regardless of my updates. There have been occasional outstanding peaks but, when these do occur the ratio between the four sites remains fairly constant. Ah, you might say, you have a regular readership who tend to check into each of your sites when they visit but no, this is not the case. In common with most sites these days I can track new visits, returning visits and visitor paths and see them laid out on a graph (don't worry I don't know who you are!).

From this and from my knowledge of harmonics, it seems that each of us bloggers fit into a cosmic matrix that already dictates at some level, what our readership levels will be as a direct correspondence of where we fit into the whole. This must have it's basis in the Law of Vibration i.e. what energy I instill in each post has a corresponding attraction level, not tied to the content per se.

We already know that our planets are part of a mathematical relationship or harmony (a harmony of the spheres) as can be witnessed in Bodes Law Flora, fauna and other facets of nature respond to cyclical and vibrational prompts but what was noticed by Zipf was that our entire Universe orders itself in these natural rhythms. This leads me neatly into Mayan Cosmology/Astrology and 2012.

The Mayans appear to have been acutely aware of the harmonic and cyclical nature of time and space. Indeed Maya divination was built entirely around numbers. Whilst researching some current loose ends about their 2012 prophecy I came across a wonderful site and I would like to share some of it's content with you. This article was written in 2002 by David Wilkins and I'm sure, due to the importance of what is written, the site owner , Scott Mandelker, will not mind me 'lifting' this portion:

With the work of Dr. S.V. Smelyakov and Y. Karpenko on the Mayan Calendar [6], we may well have the "smoking gun" to prove scientifically that a fundamental energetic change is occurring throughout the entire Solar System at this time, fostering a crucial link between the local effects on the Sun, Earth and other planets and the effects upon the consciousness of humanity. Since distant ancient times, all of these prophesied changes have been associated with the culmination of a 25,920-year master cycle known as "precession". In Shift of the Ages [10], we demonstrate how this cycle can be seen in the long-term activity of the Sun [3] as well as the rotation of the Earth's axis. We also show how the Mayan Calendar cycle, at 5,125 years in length, is exactly one-fifth of the precession. [10] John Major Jenkins, one of the speakers at our upcoming event in Louisville, KY on April 26-28, 2002, has demonstrated that on Dec. 21, 2012, the end-date for this cycle, the long-term "precessional" orientation of the Earth's axis is perfectly aligned with the center of the galaxy. [4] And now, Dr. Smelyakov et al. have added dramatic new evidence to the case in their paper entitled "The Auric Time Scale and the Mayan Calendar." [6]

This article you are now reading is the very first account of this groundbreaking study to be published worldwide, other than the paper itself, which has remained completely obscure from the Internet-based metaphysical culture at large. This is almost certainly due to its degree of sophistication, making it almost indecipherable to those not educated in physics and mathematics. Smelyakov's discovery is based on his earlier investigations of the ratio known as "phi" or the Golden Section and how it unifies and correlates the following phenomena [6]:

all the fundamental phenomena in biology (cell and physiological rhythms)
cyclical events in botany (vegetative cycles, etc.)
cycles in zoology (counts of head of livestock, number of fishes caught, etc.)
meteorological cycles of the weather
the physics of the movements of the Sun and the Earth
the ebb and flow of human emotion as seen in financial market activities (Kondratiev cycle [2] and others)
events through history such as wars and levels of population
cycles of criminal behavior
earthquakes and other epic natural disasters
cycles of sudden variation in Carbon-14 radiation content in tree rings

Those who have studied sacred geometry or read my books and / or others on the subject are well aware of the importance of the phi ratio, which has a value of 1.6180339. This ratio can be easily seen in the relationships between common "Diatonic" musical frequencies as well as the natural proportions of growing bacteria clusters, plant life, animal life and the human body. When drawn geometrically, it appears as the classic spiral shape that we so often see on the seashells at the beach. Furthermore, the importance of phi was enshrined in many ancient structures throughout the world. As a ratio, it perfectly balances the forces of expansion and contraction, which can be demonstrated geometrically or mathematically, and its connection to music shows that it is a fundamental characteristic of the behavior of vibration. [10, 11]

I guess this article ( in its entirety) comes about as close to concurring with my personal beliefs, and my ongoing research, about 2012 as is possible. Simply stated I believe that what we are leading up to is global awareness of the perfect order of the universe, it's non linear nature and our indivisibility from the 'whole'. In which case astrology is about to enjoy a resurgence as it is the only discipline I know of that deals solely with these harmonies in the Universe.

When we are cognizant of the underlying Laws of the Universe we become aware that none of us need 'push the river' - it's going to flow by itself, but astrology can gives clues as to where it's heading and what boat you are currently in. As Wilcox goes onto say ' What we are moving towards is a literal shift in the basic characteristics of matter, energy and consciousness' - I say, that's Pluto in Capricorn and Uranus in Pisces for you!

Fellow bloggers - take heed, resisting the flow is simply wasted energy. If I believe my readership numbers will fall - guess what happens - they do. My intentions and thoughts create the reality I experience. My beliefs (energy state) alter my position in the matrix, or web, which has inherent order. The earth changes and everything else that we are experiencing in these turbulent times are due to the shifting energy levels within each of us. As our consciousness changes, so does our environment/Planet and vice versa . I'll return to this subject as and when I have more to share.

Every so often one comes across a site on the Internet that is so replete with information and fascinating articles that it turns you goggle eyed and causes hours to pass by in what seems like seconds.

One such site that I have just discovered is called Cyberworld Khaldea This site alone has consumed days of my time with a plethora of interesting features and the ability to peruse the inside of many of the books on sale there. However it is the link to the Rudhyar Archival Project -a site dedicated to the work of Dane Rudhyar - an astrological legend - and the multitude of links which offer access to the books and articles penned by the great man himself, that truly blew me away.

If you don't already know, Rudhyar was one the most important astrologers of the 2oth century who left a substantial legacy of Art, Music, Literature and Philosophy.

When someone can express a thought or concept better than you ever can, there is no point in trying to compete. So rather than attempting what would inevitably be a substandard interpretation or re-write of Rudhyar's observations, I will let you hear it direct from the source........

This site is called Cosmic Cipher and many people believe that codes are all around us in the cosmos. Dreams, psychic visions, RV, premonitions and symbolic systems such as tarot, rune stones, numerology are all ways in which we seem able to tap into the great unknown. Before reading this post it is imperative that you read this post which I wrote in February. I must reiterate that I am only the messenger passing on a technique. Over on my Cosmic Ordering blog I have directed people interested in the Law of Attraction and 'Prosperity Processes' to a 12 minute recording by The Rosicrucian Order. Whilst listening to many of the free lectures they offer as Podcasts (or via your media player) I was came across a presentation entitled Spiritual Alchemy.

I bring this to your attention now as the text for this presentation is as near perfect in its description of what Spiritual Alchemy is, as any I have ever read or heard. It takes you on a guided visualisation and journey through the personal alchemical process. The huge problem that the Rosicrucian's have to address if they are to attract more interest (and avoid alienating those who believe that any Wisdom/mystery school is full of weirdos), is their presenters.

This tape is pure gold (excuse the pun) but it is hard not to be distracted by the almost alien sounding voice of the presenter, Karen Wark. The same can be said of some of their other podcasts. Maybe I am revealing my ignorance about the methods of the Rosicrucians. I understand the importance of sound as a carrier of consciousness and I have often written about resonance. Having read this article I can only assume they speak in this fashion for deliberate purposes - perhaps to induce a more receptive brain wave level in the listener. It's the only explanation I can think of for such bizarre speaking voices. Even so, in the case of this presenter, I'm sure she's very spiritually advanced but her delivery distracts from the message she is imparting. People hear this voice, think 'uh-oh Cult' and move on. If this same tape was re recorded by someone with a normal sounding voice I'm sure it would reach far more people and attract far more people to the good work of the esoteric schools.

That said, I highly recommend you accept the slow, drawling hypnotic- perhaps mystical- intonation of the presenter and find a free, quiet 36 minutes to listen to the following tape here.

With regards to the title of this post, since medieval times the four colours of the alchemical process are said to be Black, White, Yellow and Red corresponding to the four elements and, once understood via the presentation, the four colours add a new level of meaning to many of the ancient texts and alchemical imagery.

THE TWO SUNS THEORY

When you make the two one,
and when you make the outside like the inside,
and the above like the below;
when you make the male and female as one,
then you will enter the kingdom of God - Gospel of Thomas

The words above remind us of the indivisibility of everything within the Universe. The Hermetic Principle of Polarity alerts us to the truth that Spirit and Matter are but two poles of the same thing, the intermediate planes merely being different degrees of vibration and manifestation. The conscious reconciliation of good and bad, love and hate, dark and light, positive and negative as being part of the same, part of the 'all' (just as there is no beginning and end to a circle). The principle reminds us there are no absolutes or ultimate separation.

The multi-layered meaning of the maxim also alerts us to recognise, not only the principle of polarity, but that of correspondence, gender and the other four Universal Laws; 'the kingdom of God' being unity and spiritual elevation into the 'Temple' of all knowledge and understanding.

Whilst reading this passage recently and contemplating the polarity principle, I found myself led to a couple of coincidental theories. The first might seem in itself to embody the principle of polarity because some may feel you probably can't get further along the scale from Hermetic Wisdom to that of a Sun sign astrologer. All competent astrologers however, whether they consciously realise it or not, are working with The Seven Hermetic Universal Laws.

Linda Goodman was more than just a good astrologer, she was an extremely wise and gifted woman. It was while reading some of her work that I first heard the theory that, at one time in history, there may have been two Suns.

Linda's theory was that eons ago there was no time, as our conception of time only arises because of the spin of the Earth - no spin, no measurable time. At some juncture a catastrophic event occurred and two 'Suns' collided. This caused the Earth to start spinning, producing gravity, and the second sun then became locked into the Earth's gravity system. Linda postulated that this second Sun was the, now dead and burnt out, Moon. Time and gravity therefore, in her understanding, started together as did the flourishing of plant life and life as we know it.

This is quite an intriguing theory to me, so it led me to wondering if anything of this kind had ever been postulated before. My searches revealed nothing although I'm sure it's out there somewhere. My search did, however, lead me to a site called The Binary Research Institute.

Their explanation about what they research reads as such:

Throughout history, new discoveries have come about that completely and instantly change scientific outlook as to the nature of the world and universe, and our place in it. Galileo was put on trial for suggesting that the Earth moves around the Sun. Among geologists, the theory of plate techtonics was laughed at in the early 20th century. Einstein denied the existence of black holes even though his theories predicted them. Binary and multiple star systems, once thought to be rare, are now considered to be the rule, rather than the exception. If this is the case, then perhaps our Sun has a binary companion.

When we look at the received wisdom of life always having duality at every level, this starts to make sense. Why should the Sun not have a binary twin?

We are living in extraordinary times and as we approach the infamous Mayan end date of 2012 any information or research, such as that of the BRI, which can further our knowledge and understanding of our Universe (and our concept of time and space) is to applauded, not ridiculed just because it doesn't neatly fit accepted paradigms.

LEXIGRAMS- A Living Language?

Astrologer Linda Goodman first introduced me to the concept of Lexigramming. At first I was sceptical but, the more I learn about esoteric wisdom aka the Ancient Secrets, the more I realise that a word is not simply an arbitrary grouping of letters.

I have written about the 'secret power of words' and that article can be found on my website www.kathryncassidy.com. I'm in no doubt that words set up a vibration and a word that has negative connotations invariably sets up a negative resonant frequency whereas a word like Love can set up a positive vibration that can attract good into our lives. Linda though, believed that words contained even more secret knowledge, hidden within the word, name or phrase itself. She thought - and her knowledge was not her own but that which she had received - that each word, name or phrase is in itself a concentrated poem of verse.

She pointed to examples such as the word Untied, meaning separation becomes the word United meaning the opposite, by re-versing 2 letters. Linda maintained that quiet concentration on a groups of words, alongside the use of anagrams would reveal secrets hidden from obvious view. She called this practice Lexigramming. She placed Lexigramming alongside astrology and numerology as the key to fully understanding the nature of anything on the differing planes of manifestation.

The rules of Lexigramming are slightly different to that of anagrams in that you first make a list of all the words contained within the name or phrase you wish to penetrate, then you study that list and allow your sixth sense to take over.

The rules are:

1.Each letter of the words you make must be contained in the word, name or phrase you are lexigramming. You can use each letter in the original more than once but not in the same word. So, you cannot make the word ''cooler' if the original word only has one o (relocate) but you can make locate and to - using the letter o twice.

2. The original word, name or phrase may not contain more than 15 different and separate letters of the alphabet but it can contain a letter more than once and it may not contain more than 4 of the 5 vowels (aeiou). The reason being that if the original word contains all 5 vowels and more than 15 separate letters of the alphabet, almost any word in the dictionary can be formed and nothing hidden or important will surface.

3.You can add the short words like at, but, the, etc to the the compilation to bring meaning to a sentence

4. Lexigramming is not valid in anything other than the Anglo-Saxon i.e English Alphabet.

Linda believed that much of the English language contained rhyme, rhythm and musical tones until it was distorted through the ages. She wrote that the word note is tone and vice versa because Music (ie harmony and harmonics) contains the Sum of all knowledge. Keys are codes, (she believed this is confirmed by Yes being within the word Keys). Sound is the intermediary between higher level of abstract ideas in the mind and concrete form i.e. sound is capable of moulding ethers into shapes and the vibrations of the mind are able to make an impression on the ether which can manifest as physical matter.

Here are some of the words Linda uses as examples:

Diplomacy = Mad policy
South = So hot
North= Not hot
Violent - No love
Numerological = Logical magic
Contemplation = Elation in no time
Lewis Carroll = Alice
Words = Sword
Mission= No sin
Universe = Sun, Venus, Even, Seer, Us, Verse
Evil = Live, vile, lie
Earth = Heart
Gold = God

Let me state where I stand on this information - I'm just not sure. There's something going on, the whole idea strikes a chord with me but just what this mystery is still needs further explanation. What I can say is that once I saw some of Linda's further examples and then started trying it out myself, I was fascinated and I think you will be too. Take a look at this:

Finally, I have noticed this; the name BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA contains the words; bomb in car, bomb in house, mob ram his car, and Abraham, Barack Obama shines (I like this one as he is a Leo) and many other words, not least CIA mark his back. Hopefully that will just be in terms of protecting him and not in any other sense of the phrase. It should be noted though that this does break a rule of Linda's lexigramming requirements (as the full name contains all the vowels) nevertheless it struck me as interesting so I thought I would show it.

THE LANGUAGE OF BIRDS

In response to my posting, 'Signs, Omens and Portents' on my sister site, synchronicities have been flowing in thick and fast for me this week. In that post I mention 'The Book of Revelation'- the book of apocalyptic literature from the Gospel of St John.

Today another book has found its way to my attention which, apropos that post, some of you may be interested to read. It is called Reading Pictures Of The Apocalypse by Rudolf Steiner. A preview of the pages may be seen here. The book cover says the following:-

'Reading The Pictures Of The Apocalypse consist of listeners notes to lectures given by Steiner... and a meaning of the most esoteric book in the bible. The Book offers a practice or inner schooling in reading "the signs of the times" so that we can meet the world situation responsibly and in full consciousness.'

That this book 'should fall out in front of me' is testament to the power of The Law of Attraction, as my mind has been resonating at a frequency which is attracting these books and this information into my life.

Meanwhile, my discourse in the aforementioned post as to the possible omens and meaning one can attribute to the recent 'falling of dead birds from the sky' led me to an exchange on a forum on an alchemy website which read:

Has anyone related the Language of the Birds to the "correspondence"principle of the middle ages ? All things are interconnected at a very subtle level, so it went. This idea went out of fashion long ago but has reemerged due to 20th century theoretical physics. It does follow that if there is a universal correspondence between all things, that a state of awareness could be achieved in which the (subtle) correspondences could be known between (seemingly) unrelated phenomena.

This forum posting resulted in my hearing for the first time about The Green Language. This, apparently, is a language used by occultists and alchemists which is also known as The Language of The Birds!

In a quest to learn more about this language of correspondence, I was then 'led' to the following information from David Ovason:

The original source for the term Green Language was the French Langue Vert. The Vert (Green) is almost certainly an example of arcane aphesis. In French, ouvert means open. The Langue Ouvert was the open language, the tongue of ordinary men. When ouvert became vert by this aphetic change, it meant the opposite of open, i.e. closed; the Langue Vert was therefore the closed language, the occult language, the hidden tongue. ... As a result, in this strange language, a word which may appear quite ordinary is invested with another, deeper meaning comprehensible only to those who anticipate such a hidden meaning.

Which brings us full circle. The falling of birds in Texas and Australia does indeed have significance to those who understand the Hermetic principles of The Law of Correspondence - 'As Above, So Below, As Within, So Without'. They may indeed connect the events that I was trying to decipher in my post to current events in Iran - plus underline a need for us to notice the wider implications of symbolism, and the hidden language that speaks to us through the collective. Why Iran? Because The Mantiq al-tair, (The Language of Birds) is an important ancient work composed by the Persian (Iranian) poet Farid al-Din cAttar (ca. 1142–1220); an allegorical text about man's quest for spiritual union.

JUPITER/PLUTO & THE LAW OF PROJECTION

Throughout this year we will be under the influence of Jupiter and Pluto, moving towards a conjunction in December 2007. I shall be writing at length about this aspect on many occasions during the year.

One of the implications of these two meeting, in the sign of Sagittarius, is the propensity for discussions on spirituality, morality and ethics. It can also lead to the arrival of charismatic and highly influential preachers. Sometimes these people come with a message and mission which can be uplifting to humanity. What we must also be aware of however, is the likelihood of the arrival of cult leaders and celebrity ‘preachers’ who are solely on a quest for extreme fame and prestige.

There is a very popular British female media personality, who first found worldwide fame when she married her high profile husband. This woman is repeatedly unable to mask her disdain for any of her fellow celebrities who have indulged in extra marital affairs. She often takes it upon herself to use her public platform to openly chastise and humiliate them.

Whatever ones beliefs about adultery, what viewers are witnessing when they see her dispensing her moral opprobrium on screen, is not someone on a valid crusade, but The Law of Reflection (sometimes known as The Law Of Projection) at work. This Law states that whatever is within us, is reflected back to us in the outside world.

You can only see yourself
You can only hear yourself
You can only talk to yourself
You can only criticise yourself
You can only praise yourself
Every time you say the words ‘You are’, ‘she is’ or ‘he is’ you are projecting something of yourself onto someone else.

So, whenever we have a character trait that we would rather not own, it often shows up in our outer world as events that force us into head on confrontation with whatever we are trying to deny. Thus we are given the choice to either master the issue, integrate the lesson into our lives or, alternatively, live a life that is full of hypocrisy.

To make clear what I am trying to convey let me also cite the example of the American preacher ‘Pastor Ted’. Evangelical leader Ted Haggard was named by Time Magazine in 2005 as one of the top 25 evangelical teachers in America. He openly preached against the immorality of homosexuality and was a vocal opponent of gay marriage. In 2006 it was revealed that Haggard had been engaging in homosexual relationships for at least three years. After this revelation Mr Haggard read out a statement in which he said; "There is a part of my life that is so repulsive and dark and I've been warring against it my entire adult life.."

The general rule of thumb is that whenever someone reacts very angrily, or launches a moral crusade against behaviour in other people, it is because they are angry at the same behaviour, or fear of succumbing to that, which lies within themselves.

It should therefore come as no surprise that the female personality who I mention above, conducted an adulterous affair with the high profile star who later became her husband. She is also, to this day, known for her very flirtatious and provocative behaviour with other men. She is unaware that if this moral issue wasn’t something she fears may still rear its head in her life, it wouldn’t elicit such a forceful response from her; It would just pass over her as another very human dilemma that exists within the personality of men and women throughout history. She is projecting. Sometimes this is conscious, often it is unconscious i.e. the person is not sufficiently self aware to see the reflection and assimilate its lessons.

Interestingly too for someone who is inwardly judgemental, this female personality often appears on programmes in which she is herself ‘a judge’. Life’s reflections are everywhere.

Take the world to be a true mirror of who you are at this very instant. Deepak Chopra

This Law of Reflection can be seen at work in the most pious and morally indignant crusaders. Sadly the number of these people in our ranks will swell with Jupiter in Sagittarius. There are, of course, people who work tirelessly to help those with social and personality issues. For these people their motives are not as a result of inner blindness, but as a result of a keen awareness that tolerance, lack of judgement and good moral guidance can help people who have lost their way. For example, someone who helps prostitutes, or those with AIDS, or offers marriage guidance to adulterers is not necessarily battling the issue within themselves. Someone, however, who reacts angrily to people with AIDS or adulterers, prostitutes etc., almost certainly is battling some issue within themselves, usually in the area of sexuality and morality, which they do not want to confront.

So, if during this New Year of 2007, you find yourself suddenly seized by an urge to be extremely judgemental about someone elses life choices, look within.

ACCEPTANCE
All of us need to understand and accept the imperfections that go to make up our unique personalities. Even the people that we most admire in life have areas that need working upon – life is a series of lessons in personal growth. People who take responsibility for themselves find inner and outer balance.

Personal growth author Wayne Dyer now freely admits that he had a substance abuse problem when working on his first books. Whilst he was writing about spirituality and the road to enlightenment; his readers looked up to him as a paragon of virtue and model of perfection. He though was consumed by the hypocrisy and decided to deal with it responsibly, and in the process live a more authentic life. By admitting to his ‘issues’ and overcoming them he gained greater respect from his readers than ever before.

Some years ago, self-help guru Anthony Robbins, author of ‘The Giant Within’ was also revealed to be living a life that was not entirely congruent with his teachings. One can only guess at what issues people such as Deepak Chopra, Marianne Williamson or Dr Phil (and Oprah) may have had to resolve. One thing is sure though, without problems and frailties none of us alive would be human. It is through an awareness of these issues that one continues to grow. Sadly, those, like the female TV personality mentioned at the beginning of this article are more likely to fall, like Pastor Ted, on the sword of their own righteousness, unless they bring their problems to the light of awareness.

In the Hermetic tradition it is said that those who have attained high spiritual powers and misuse them have a terrible fate in store. 'The striving for selfish power on the spiritual planes inevitably results in the soul losing its spiritual balance and falling back as far as it had previously risen'. I don’t know if I can subscribe to this view but it is undoubtedly an ignominious end that awaits those that believe they are above the spiritual laws.

THE ILLUMINATED GAS

Signs and signals can appear in many formats. Often they need no deciphering; the message is clear cut. Our world is replete with coincidental events, which are the Universe's way of catching our attention. When we are in resonance with that part of us which resides beyond our shape and form, we are 'in the flow' of life.

Recently a reader called Eldon from Florida wrote and recommended a book to me. I never dismiss these prompts. I knew there would be something within the covers of that book that it was right for me to read at that time. At his request, I downloaded the free version of this book and it turned out to be a gem. It is called The Navigator and I highly recommend it to anyone on the spiritual path.

Within this book were the following words:

At the point of death the human body inexplicably loses several ounces of weight. Studies have shown that when photographed with light sensitive film for an amount of nanoseconds (less than a second) a large illumination expands from the body and disappears upon death - The Navigator

This caught my attention because the previous evening I had been watching an art expert talking about an exhibit which has just been placed in The Tate Modern, a gallery in London. This piece of work, the expert explained, represented the stage in alchemical processes where one attempts to trap the 'illuminated gas' that arises from the distillation process. The synchronicity and symbolism entranced me.

The quest of the alchemists was to capture the spirit, or essence, inherent in form. Trancendentalists would call this gas the astral light. Some call it electricity or magnetism, or in ancient texts; the measureless life of spirit.

This led me to doing a bit of reading on this subject. It seems that what alchemists were often creating was Phosphorus. A substance, then unknown, which emits a glowing ethereal light. Phosphorus is a scientific item, a product of chemical manipulation, one that was a by-product of their processes. Phosphorus is an essential ingredient in all cell protoplasm. 85% of the bodies stores are found in bone and it forms part of the structural framework in DNA. The name comes from the Greek word for Light bearer and was the ancient name for the planet Venus.

Following the trail I decided to read more about Phosphorus in alchemical procedures. What I found however was this, written by Max Heindel, an astrologer and esoteric master. Heindel, was chosen by the elder brothers of the Rose Cross (Rose Croix) to found the Rosicrucian Fellowship. He said this:

"Phosphorous is the particular element by means of which the Ego is able to express thought and influence the dense physical body. It is also a fact that the proportion and variation of this substance is found to correspond to the state and stage of intelligence of the individual. Idiots have very little phosphorus; shrewd thinkers have much; and in the animal world, the degree of consciousness and intelligence is in proportion to the amount of phosphorus contained in the brain.

It is therefore of great importance that the aspirant who is to use his body for mental and spiritual work, should supply his brain with the substance necessary for that purpose. Most vegetables and fruits contain a certain amount of phosphorus, but it is a peculiar fact that the greater proportion is contained in the leaves, which are usually thrown away. It is found in considerable quantities in grapes, onions, sage, beans, cloves, pineapples, in the leaves and stalks of many vegetables, and also in sugar-cane juice, but not in refined sugar".

What he alludes to here is that Phosphorus may be present where there is a higher degree of consciousness - or spirit, which we can also term 'light'.

As God resides 'within' and 'without' all things and one of the great axioms is 'within everything is the seed of everything', alchemists knew that the seeds of spiritual gold lay within all things. They wanted to find the light, metaphorically and physically. They attempted to grow gold from gold's base components. and they wanted to find that essence that was Man.

Modern science is proving this is possible by creating body parts in laboratories from stem cells. Ancient alchemists were practicing what our physicists and scientists are doing today in their laboratories filled with modern technology.

The difference is that the alchemists had a secret key- astrology. They understood the importance of uniting what they were doing 'below' with what was happening 'above' in the heavens. Nothing could be achieved without taking the correspondences of planets and their positions into account. This, I suggest, is what modern science has yet to rediscover. As the image of the Painting 'The Alchymist' by Joseph Wright shows (above) he is 'In Search of the PhilosopherÂs Stone, Discovers Phosphorus, and prays for the successful Conclusion of his operation, as was the custom of the Ancient Chymical Astrologers'

I believe that it is only when science and spirituality coalesce, that the greatest insights will be achieved into the true nature of man, his purpose and his essence.

JAMES BOND 007 & JOHN DEE - A royale tale

There is undoubted synchronicity between celestial and terrestrial and as the Sun and four other planets transit through the sign connected with espionage, Scorpio, a new James Bond Movie, Casino Royale, reaches our screens this week.

It is fairly common knowledge that the character of Bond was immortalised by the writer Ian Fleming and that he picked the name from a book title on his shelves, 'Birds of the West Indies' written by a Philadelphian ornithologist, James Bond. What appears to be a subject of debate though, is why he gave his fictional British secret agent the code name of 007.

It is popularly assumed that he is the 7th agent with a 'licence to kill' and that Fleming took the moniker from the address of a building in Toronto at 1107 Avenue Road, where he had a residence. However, the real origins of the famous 007 are thought to lie somewhere else entirely; a place much more befitting of a spy. The code emanates from the language of the 'occult' i.e. the language of the hidden.

The science of sending concealed messages is known as Steganography, Greek for "concealed writing". An example of this might be the use of invisible ink or writing messages in wax and then covering them up. A classic example is that of Histiaeus, who shaved the head of his most trusted slave and tattooed a message on it, so that once his hair had grown the message was hidden. Steganography, however, has obvious limits. If someone finds the hidden message, all its secrets are revealed. This problem led to the need to obscure messages so that they could not be read even if they were intercepted. The result was Cryptography, Greek for "hidden writing". Encrypted messages hide the meaning, rather than the message itself.

Throughout history it has been important to hide messages and communiques, not only to prevent information reaching enemy ears and eyes, but also for reasons of personal safety. In the days of persecution by the Church and State anyone found dabbling in areas that constituted treason, or those derided as 'sorcery' and heresy, risked at least imprisonment, and at worst torture and death.

Ian Fleming has a background in British intelligence working for the NID. During World War I the NID (National Intelligence Division) was responsible for the Royal Navy's highly successful cryptographic efforts, Room 40 which was later merged to form the GCCS, Government Code and Cipher School. As such he would have been well aware of codes (secret languages) and ciphers (scrambled messages) and their history.

The real reason that Ian Fleming chose the code 007 is likely to stem from knowledge that circulated in the intelligence circles of a very famous Hermeticist and cipher writer, Dr John Dee (1527-1608). Dee was a polymath; an expert alchemist and mathematician, he was also Court Astrologer to Queen Mary I and an advisor to her sister, Elizabeth. He had an interest in the ancient Hebrew art of Gemetria and a lifelong fascination with sigils and mathematical ciphers in both their numerical and geometric forms.

Dr Dee, as a known 'occultist' and free thinker, posed a threat to the other advisors in the Catholic Court of Queen Mary and in a bid to eradicate his influence, he was arrested and accused of plotting the Queen's death. He was, of course, duly vindicated and Queen Mary herself gave him a Royal pardon, so he continued to work for the Court, even choosing the Coronation date for the new Queen, Elizabeth 1st. However past events, and constant fear of his enemies and detractors, forced them both to be more discreet in their political dealings together.

It is known that many of the communications between them were written in code and he used to sign his communications with Queen Elizabeth with the cipher 007. In effect, he acted as an astrologer and a secret agent for the new Queen, looking out for threats to her reign and subjects. This was the cipher:

The two circles symbolised his own two eyes as well as indicating that he was the secret eyes of the Queen. According to historian Richard Deacon, the two circles are guarded by what may be considered a square root sign Deacon thinks it told Elizabeth that Dee put not only his two eyes and the other four senses at her disposal; he offered her his occult sense as well.

Deacon also sees the possibility of the two eyes being guarded by an elongated number seven, as the number 7 is replete with esoteric significance. Whatever the true interpretation the majority of scholars and cryptologists have read it as a seven and Ian Fleming chose the code name of 007 for his hero, James Bond. Therefore, one cannot help but think that the longevity of the character may be down to more than just good luck for, as the author John Michel points out, the number is indeed sacred in occult belief:

"... In Revelation there are 7 churches, 7 candlesticks, 7 stars, 7 angels, 7 vials, 7 seals, 7 thunders, 7 plagues and 7 spirits of God; the Lamb has 7 horns and 7 eyes, the dragon 7 heads and 7 crowns, and the beast has 7 heads which are the 7 hills of the Whore of Babylon.

"Seven is the number of things sacred and mysterious, as the 7 veils of initiation. According to Philo 'nature delights in the number seven', for the astrologers know 7 planets, there are 7 stars in the Great Bear and 7 notes in music; God rested on the seventh day, a man's head has 7 orifices and his life proceeds in 7 year periods; the cycles of women and the moon occur in sevens, 28 days making the lunar month.

Seven has no gender for, as St.Augustine writes, '3 is the first number wholly odd and 4 wholly even and these two make 7... Therefore is the Holy Ghost often called by this number.

There are 7 colours in the rainbow and 7 petals on the temple flower,the pomegranate, but the number seven is rarely apparent in physical nature, corresponding rather to the spiritual forces that regulate the cycles of time and human development".

21 films and 6 Bond's later, it certainly looks like Ian Fleming, in choosing the code name 007 for his character, was party to 'hidden' knowledge. As Casino Royale goes on general release this week, it is also interesting to note that the recent transit of Mercury across the Sun occurred in opposition to Flemings natal Moon. Perhaps this was a heavenly cipher for the revelation of the real origins of the codename 007 coming to light.

THE GREAT WORK

It seems quite fitting, that whilst five planets occupy the sign of Scorpio, I should expand upon my previous post and write a little more about Alchemy - the art of transmutation.

It is popularly assumed that alchemy is the name given to the process of turning base metals into Gold. This is not totally correct. Alchemy has a history stretching back over a couple of thousand millennia and during that time the name has indeed been applied to many practices which fall under the umbrella of 'chemical practices'. When tracing the history of the art, however, it might more accurately be said that alchemy was originally the process of Man working upon himself (his raw or base nature) in a quest to perfect, or transmute, his own nature and locate the 'gold' within. That is not to say that alchemy did not also involve the process of attempting to turn a first substance (Prima materia) into the Elixir that was itself the transmuting agent, but it seems indivisible from the spiritual process, known as the Great Work.

What's more it is thought possible that the ancient alchemist had happened across the principles that we know today as quantum physics. It is believed that they had discovered how to alter atomic structure and used nuclear principles in their work i.e. They knew there was a way of manipulating matter to produce a 'field of force' - on a physical and spiritual level. Hence the reasons for all the secrecy lest it fall into the wrong hands, and the insistence on endless repetition of the distillation process to prevent accidents.

It was only really in the 16th century that many of the ideas, principles and symbols were brought out into the open. Until then it had been passed on by word of mouth from Master to Initiate in the secret fraternities and kept ambiguous to outsiders through the use of allegory and symbolism. Even then, no two processes were revealed as being the same and it does seem as if only the exclusive few had access to the ultimate alchemical formulae, the Magnus Opus.

Whether they knew of nuclear principles remains a subject of conjecture but certainly ancient alchemists probably discovered a force which today we might take for granted, for it appears likely that early alchemist discovered what we now know to be by products of deep meditation; clairvoyance and telepathy. In fact it is possible that certain combinations of certain elements produced potions which helped induce physical changes and visions and these were found to be 'purer' under certain conditions, namely certain planetary alignments.

The reason that alchemy is of such interest to an astrologer is because the knowledge of the connection of the terrestrial with the celestial was obviously an intrinsic part of the transmutation process. John of Rupescisia (14th C) wrote that alchemy is:

' the secret of the mastery of fixing the sun in our own sky, so that light shines therein and sheds light and the principles of light upon our bodies'

Certainly, the introduction of light, and the absence of light, at certain crucial times was seen as being critical to the success of the process. So too was the knowledge of the correspondences of metals to different planets. Alchemists were skilled astrologers and perpetuated the view that the planet is whole and alive. Each planet when 'strong in influence' was said to accelerate the growth of the metal within the earth. Indeed, often in alchemical texts the metals are called by the planets name themselves e.g Venus = Copper. The alchemist worked closely with celestial influences to bring about transformation.

To my mind it seems plain that Hermeticism and Freemasonry (and I include astrology) are fundamentally the vehicles which carry the secrets of alchemy (self mastery) from initiate to initiate. Through becoming a Mason or Hermeticist one is honoured with keys to the alchemical process; each secret, or key, being passed on in stages (degrees) via the mediums of allegory and symbolism. The ultimate goal to become self- realised, a spirit incarnate.

A nature is delighted by another nature, a nature conquers another nature, a nature dominates another nature'. - An allegorical key to alchemy.

In astrology there were 7 planets visible to the ancients and 12 divisions of the sky(the zodiac). In alchemy there were processes of transmutation of 7 and 12 stages in length. George Ripley, a 15th century alchemist described the alchemy process as The Twelve Gates and likened it to a circular castle with 12 entrances. In astrological thought one is believed to pass daily and yearly through these 12 'gates'. This article by Manly P. Hall explains the 12 step process in alchemy (and freemasonry) further.

In conclusion then, it seems alchemy was so revered because its aim was to give Man the greatest power of all - self mastery. This was achieved by utilising knowledge of the astrological elements, along with an understanding of planetary influence and correspondences. Through the marriage of physical and spiritual the result was a connection to the All - transmutation to transcendence. Hermeticism and Freemasonry helps to facilitate that journey.

SYMBOLS, CIPHERS & DIVINE PROPORTION

Symbols are a graphical way of communicating an idea. Using specific icons we become able to convey a whole concept or meaning. The most recent universal symbols to enter this 'graphic dictionary'are probably those of the Emoticons or 'Smileys'. These are icons which people add to the end of their text message, e-mail or internet post to convey happiness, boredom, annoyance etc.

The symbol can, however, also be used as a cipher. In ancient history and esoteric literature symbols were often used as coded teachings tools. Careful study of symbols, especially if one had access to the decoding key, could convey wisdom to initiates in the secret fraternities, whilst still preventing certain secrets from reaching the neophytes. Freemasonry is full of such symbolism and an example of this can be seen in this fascinating article on Masonry (Trouble with link- to view please Google 'The Tau and Triple Tau by H. Meij').

Incredibly, as the subject of Sacred Geometry shows, the idea of encoding meaning even extends to concrete symbols. Buildings have been erected throughout history whose design and location were chosen to endure throughout the span of mortal time. Infact, the edifices built by Dionysiac Builders (who coexisted under the umbrella of freemasonry) are more latterly described as 'sermons in stone'. These builders were in possession of esoteric knowledge known as architectonics and they carefully constructed buildings using precise metaphysical principles and laws. One of these principles being that of the Golden Mean or Divine Proportion - an equation also known as Phi which has been shown to have existed as far back in history as the building of the Egyptian Pyramids.

These ancient architects, builders and freemasons believed that they should create buildings which reflect the divine proportions mirrored in the heavenly spheres. It has been claimed that Solomon employed the Dionysiac Builders in the building of Solomon's Temple and his palaces. Each of the buildings erected contained secrets of proportion, harmony, sound and vibration knowledge thought best kept from the uninitiated, lest they use it for nefarious purposes.

Hermeticists were also no strangers to this need to convey information in a covert way:

"When the ears of the student are ready to hear, then cometh the lips to fill them with wisdom.. with the Master-Key in his possession, the student may unlock the many doors of the mental and psychic temple of knowledge, and enter the same freely and intelligently. Without this Master-Key, Mastery is impossible, and the student knocks in vain at the many doors of The Temple." - The Kybalion

At the top of the page what you see is the Hermetic symbol and Seal of Light. On one level of initiation, the circle represents the totality of all energy and the ultimate expression of unity in the Cosmos. The square represents the crystallization of energy into definite form and the idea of perfect harmony. The trinity is shown by the triangle (The equilateral triangle is an emblem of the three essential attributes of Deity, namely, Omnipresence, Omniscience, and Omnipotence) Finally, the inner circle represents eternity.

At a deeper level of initiation however the three geometric solids equate to the alchemical solutions of Mercury, Sulphur and Salt. These represent not only chemicals but the spiritual and invisible principles of Soul, Spirit and Body and the three lights, Stellar Fire, Solar Fire and Lunar Fire. To those in possession of 'the key' this symbol, or cipher, is thought to reveal the 'alchemical' formula for discovering Man's essence and transmuting him in stages into a state of perfection - a reflection of God.

This process was also often symbolised in another Seal - The Seal of Solomon. The double triangle interlaced with one apex pointing up and one down, representing the uniting of the male and female/heavenly and earthly/fire and water principles. The reconcilation of these being central to the aim of perfection.

The Golden Mean in Astrology
If we look again at the Hermetic Seal of Light above we see Man's relationship to the Cosmos being pointed out by the Compass Dividers. This is highlighting the use of divine proportion.

It is this use of celestial/terrestrial proportion and symbolism which can be seen when we divide the circle of the horoscope. The outer circle represents the apparent annual path of the Sun (the ecliptic) but is also symbolic of the circle of our planet. In this image here we can see how the points where the solids intersect the circle divide it at the precise aspectual angles that are in common use in astrology i.e. 60, 90,120 degrees. We can also see how, if we use the divine proportion equations, the circle is also divided at the midpoints 30, 45, 150 etc.

This reveals celestial harmony and the mathematical reason why the planets transiting to certain points in their cycles (and forming harmonic resonances with anything else which occupies that point, or a point in angular relationship to it) is the fundamental basis of astrological forecasting. It also shows that aspects are based on one of the most ancient principles known to Man.

Divine Proportion, The Golden Mean, The Golden Ratio- which ever term you wish to call the principle of Phi - is at work throughout the Cosmos and its properties have shown up through eons of cultural and religious change. Geometry is God's language and once again the Horoscope or 'map of the hour' is revealing itself to be a multi-layered symbol which is replete with wisdom that maps Man's path to 'perfection' and his participation in 'the great plan'. It also depicts the indivisibility from that which is below, to that which is above and vice versa.

THE LAW OF VIBRATION - Resonance

I took a little diversion with my look into the astrological chart of Robbie Williams but now I would like to return to the laws upon which the Hermetic principles of astrology are based, in particular: The Law Of Vibration.

Nothing rests; everything moves;everything vibrates - The Kybalion

This is possibly the most important law because it contains an explanation as to how everything in the Universe, animate or inanimate, can be connected to each other.

As modern science endorses, everything in the Universe is comprised of a swirling mass of energy. The density of these packets of energy and the speed of vibration of their component atoms and molecules, along with environmental forces, decide whether we observe an amorphous mass or a solid object. What also affects what we observe is us - the observer. The rate that our component parts oscillate have an effect on what we see.

The Hermetic teachings go much further than Modern science has yet dared to venture. They teach that not only is all matter vibrating but that all emotions are a manifestation of vibration. Thus all thought, reason, emotion, will or desire are accompanied by vibratory rates which may be lowered or raised at will by adepts.

In the same way that the vibration of a musical note can affect the atoms and molecules in a mirror and cause it to shatter, so it is postulated that man may affect the minds of others. If his thought processes are vibrating at a certain level, then through a well known phenomenon called resonance it is possible for both minds to become 'entrained' or synchronised. This is often commented on in daily life when two people refer to each other as being 'on the same wavelength', or liking (or disliking) someone's 'vibes'.

According to Dr Percy Seymour, a Theoretical Astrophysicist, resonance is what makes it possible for a Radio telescope to tune into specific vibrations in the Andromeda Galaxy (14 million, million, million miles away) and accounts for the Solar System playing a symphony of vibrations on the magnetic field of the Earth. It is also foils the arguments of all those who believe that planetary forces beyond the Moon are too weak to have any impact on terrestrial life. Resonant Theory states that even small fluctuating forces can have large consequences, if the frequency of vibration coincides. This supports the main tenet of astrology, which is that personalities of individuals are related to the state of the Solar System at the time of birth*

Dr Seymour believes that the resonance between the tidal tug, due to gravity, of the very hot gases trapped in the magnetic field of the Sun and Earth, and resonance between the resulting fluctuations of the Earth's magnetic field and the electrical activity of the neural network in the brain, are what link celestial firmly to terrestrial.

Basically Dr Seymour confirms the theory of harmonics put forward by John Addey in 1975: All astrological effects can be understood in terms of the harmonics of cosmic periods. This frees astrology from its somewhat limiting twelve-fold straightjacket and allows us to understand all the other laws with greater clarity. Resonant theory (harmonics) is the Holy Grail for astrologers because there is no known astrological doctrine in classical or modern astrology which cannot be explained by it.

It also explains why we attract certain events or people to us who reflect the state of our consciousness. Thus, when we are angry we are more likely to attract the mugger or car accident which we are resonating with. More positively, it is the explanation for miraculous events in that we 'entrain' ourselves to good unfolding when our thoughts are constantly kept at the higher vibration or frequency of love and happy outcomes.

The use of harmonic theory in astrological aspects is something that I have touched on in many of my posts on 'Collaborate With Fate' but I will return to discuss harmonics in the astrological 360 degree circle in my next post here.

WHAT'S UP WITH ROBBIE? An astrological and metaphysical perspective.

Superstar Robbie Williams has been the cause of a media frenzy this week when it was reported he had pulled out of the South American leg of his World tour. The latest news is that the tour is definitely still proceeding, and the single Lovelight will be released on Nov 11th.

However there is intense speculation as to Robbie's current state of mind and his physical well-being. Various media sources are suggesting his (re) admission to rehab for drink and drug addiction is imminent, whilst others speculate that he is suffering a complete mental breakdown and /or severe depression and needs to abandon the tour to receive intensive therapy.

Robbie is one of the UK's most loved, performers; one of the select few, whose surname has become all but redundant. His cheeky, 'little boy lost' persona combined with an overt, yet often ambiguous, sexual charisma has rendered him irresistible to the whole gamut of female's (and males) from cradle to grave. Part of Robbie's appeal is the juxtaposition of his incredible wealth and fame against his very public battle to find self-worth. He is a high profile, and constant, reminder that money and celebrity do not guarantee happiness. So, what is the truth? And can astrology offer any insight into what might be troubling Robbie at this juncture?

Robbie, with a Sun/Jupiter conjunction in Aquarius was never going to be a shy, retiring wallflower. Equally he was always destined to 'march to the beat of a different drummer'. This man really is 'The Eccentric, Electric Showman' personified. The 'Robster's' Moon occupies the sign of Scorpio, one of the most intensely emotional and obsessive Moon placements, in opposition to his Mars in the stubborn sign of Taurus. This sets up a fixed opposition which when joined by his Sun and Jupiter form a fixed T-square, whose outlet is through the dramatic and attention loving sign of Leo. Part of the conflict that this combination sets up is the need to be noticed, whilst also remaining private. It is indicative of someone who is very highly strung and full of erratic nervous energy. It is also common in the charts of people with obsessive/compulsive disorders.

The Aquarian side to this aspect pattern tells us that he will exhibit a deeply unconventional and detached streak that is at odds with his deep emotions, unshakeable attachment to possessions, and anything that produces feelings of security. Basically, the fixed signs have problems with letting go. Whether it be the relinquishment of past resentments, friends who no longer enhance the life, bad habits or life routines that have become like living in a hamster wheel (or deep ingrained ruts). When he does decide to leave, it's usually sudden and angrily - with a depth of emotion that suprises even him.

Robbies well documented pursuit of the perfect partner is hampered because he easily attracts women with his sexy, tactile Mars in Taurus but has difficulty connecting with them emotionally. This is due to his fear of deep commitment and the perceived 'death' of 'Robbie' that might ensue if he was to totally lose himself in someone else (opposition Moon Scorpio).

In her excellent book on aspects, Sue Tompkins describes the Taurus- Scorpio dichotomy as such; The Builder Vs The Saboteur. Placidity Vs Emotional storms. Security vs Temptation. The Status quo vs Crisis and Sex vs Taboos. Anyone with even a passing knowledge of Robbie's personality will know that all these apply. Furthermore the ruler of Robbie's Sun/Jupiter combination is in the dualistic sign of Gemini in aspect to Uranus. This person really does feel like two people and his well publicised, periodic bouts of going off the rails are a simple result of the polarities that exist within his nature. He feels damned if he does, damned if he doesn't, then the rebel takes over so he does it anyway - then he suffers guilt and self loathing.

It's all very well being able to read a birthchart and regale one with information about someone's personality. The real value of astrology however is in the ability to offer solutions as to how to live with all the different facets of one's personality and find peace and serenity in being exactly who they are. The ability to downplay the negative but to accentuate the positive traits (but to accept both as valid) is required.

In my opinion, one-off consultations with astrologers, or any type of counsellor/therapist, is the equivalent of sticking a band aid on a wound. It will only help in the short term. In order to grow, a person needs support and advice in the the form of life coaching and/or ongoing dialogue and interchange to learn how to amalgamate opposing character traits. Sadly, Robbie isn't likely to be knocking on my door in the foreseeable future but, based on his birthchart, if he did, this is the gist of the advice I would proffer:

Robbie, choose your friends with your heart but choose your financial advisors with your heart and your head. If you feel that you can't trust some of those around you don't get paranoid but act on your instincts in an assertive, not aggressive way. Sure, some people will be sycophantic and out to make money off you but often we attract the very thing we fear. See these people as symptomatic of your fear of loss of control, not as people highlighting a lack of respect, or love, for you. They are what they are. What goes around comes around and you should try and cultivate more trust in the process of life. Let go and let life flow more.

When people get angry with you, look at the possibility that they might be expressing the anger you (subconsciously) harbour towards them or yourself. Don't provoke arguments for the enjoyment of it. Discharge your anger through dialogue and make sure you communicate honestly. Curb your propensity to retaliate, detach or act evasively and respect others' viewpoints. Ensure you communicate -You need to be heard in everyday life and not simply listened to on CD's.

Place value on the freedom your money can purchase you in your non-working life. Go off on a whim and test your boundaries, barriers and limits in life, as you do in your work. Cultivate a home base that makes you feel secure but don't always go to the same places with the same people or stick with what you know. Openly embrace change. If you are contemplating more intensive therapy, do it after this tour. Energies are low, you're tired and exhausted but don't make any rash decision now. This time any therapy will work . You are ready to exhibit a new found maturity and that is a powerful motivator for change. Next year is one of retreat and taking responsibility for your life. You are about to meet people who will help you transform your life. With application, by 2008/9 you'll have it sorted.

There's lots of change coming your way in the next year, if you decide not to seize the opportunity to embrace the new, you'll find it will be thrust upon you in ways possibly not of your choosing. You may be confronted by the need to learn emotional independence and dispense with matters that are best left in the past. Your greatest tests, transformation and growth in life will always arise through partnerships, whether that be working partnerships or romantic attachments. Try to find a point of balance in these partnerships. You don't need to compromise but you may need to respect and acknowledge others right to have differing viewpoints, without seeing that as a threat to your identity.

Your ideal partner will be someone who allows you plenty of freedom and has their own well defined interests. Frequent times apart, sparky, quirky, curious and independent, deep and intensely loyal are the attributes of the person who will turn you on - and that person (your Lovelight) could be closer to illuminating your life than you think.

Some of this analysis may surprise those who regularly witness the cocky, arrogant, supremely confident side that Robbie exhibits. In my opinion though this is the cause of his present troubles. The outer and inner persona are constantly at odds. There is a lack of authenticity, except through his songs. If you are learning astrological analysis you may like to see if you can spot which aspects my assessment and interpretation are arising from. The charts below are set for midday with Sun on the 1st, as Robbie's time of birth is not determined conclusively. Remember the Sun is often indicative of our outward persona and the Moon, of our inner nature. The planet and sign ruling the Sun and Moon and their aspects take on added significance. One also needs to study the midpoint trees and progressions. Good luck.

HERMETIC PHILOSOPHY & ASTROLOGY

Hermeticism is a philosophical and religious belief system dating back many millennia. Its tenets underpin many of the World's religions and has inspired three ancient movements, namely the Illuminati, Freemasonry, and the Rosicrucians.

These 'Brotherhoods' are also known as the Secret Traditions, or Mystery Schools, because much of their philosophy and knowledge was kept a closely guarded secret. Not only was secrecy needed to protect the members from persecution by the established Church but also because, for many centuries, it was believed that Mankind was not ready to accept the esoteric wisdom, and truths of existence, to which these fraternities ascribed.

"The lips of Wisdom are closed, except to the ears of Understanding"

The teachings were, therefore, only handed down from those well versed in the esoteric(The Master) to his Pupil,(The Initiate) in well defined stages of knowledge, with each pupil ascending to higher degrees of knowledge and illumination only after successfully passing through a strict series of tests, rituals and initiation ceremonies. This is the basis of the steps of initiation from Apprentice to Grand Master in the degree stages of Freemasonry.

Whatever the outward name of these secular societies, the teachings were (and are) always delivered in the same way; veiled in allegorical tales, symbolism and ritual. What concerns us here on 'The Cosmic Cipher' is that one of the main ways of delivering some of the esoteric truths was through the medium of astrology, a symbolic art which embraces the entire seven principles upon which Hermetic Philosophy is based:

1. The Principle of Mentalism - All is mind
2. The Principle of Correspondence - As above, So below, As within, So without
3. The Principle of Vibration - Nothing rests;Everything moves;All is vibration
4. The Principle of Polarity - Everything is dual
5. The Principle of Rhythm - Everything flows
6. The Principle of Cause and Effect - Everything happens according to Law
7. The Principle of Gender - Everything has masculine and feminine principles

Following on from my previous posts on this site, I wish to address 'The Principle of Polarity'. This states that "Everything is dual; everything has poles; everything has its pair of opposites; like and unlike are the same; opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree; extremes meet; all truths are but half-truths; all paradoxes may be reconciled".

Although every student of astrology becomes well versed in The Law of Polarity, in my work as an astrology columnist, I was initially quite taken aback by the extent to which this truth manifests itself. I came to notice that the normal 12 fold Sun sign column could really have been whittled down to 6. Whereas beginner students are taught that, say the 5th house means, places of entertainment, taverns, pubs theatres, children, pregnancy, sporting arenas etc, etc, and the 11th house has correspondences with groups, associations, ideals, friends, benefactors etc, etc, in practical application, there was no division. A planet posited in one house or sign, affected the other in equal proportion. This holds true for each of the polarities.

The Law of Polarity applied to astrology states that the shadow side of each sign is reflected in its polar opposite. Thus those who are well integrated within their 'self' will have harmonious relations with those whose Sun sign occupies the opposite sign. Those less-integrated souls will find constant friction between those of their opposite sign as they seek to deny, rather than embrace, the characteristics which are being reflected.

As we journey through this series of articles and tutorials on the art of astrology, I would therefore like to remind readers of the important polarities in astrology:

This is the fundamental basis for all astrological cycles but the Principle of Polarity will also throw light on many other subjects in the Cosmos. For example, Light and Dark, Up and Down, North and South, Noise and Quiet are all poles of the same thing, as indeed are Spirit and Matter.

Additionally the axiom, 'In the beginning the ending is foretold' becomes clearer through understanding this principle, because all that is enfolded on the outer cycle, unfolds on the inner - in linear time by our perception, but at the same time in the space/time continuum. On an even more profound level it is also the basis for the saying 'What happens to a man is characteristic of him', for ultimately the esoteric truth is that life reflects the man and vice versa.

WE REAP WHAT WE SOW

Astrology reveals the cyclical nature of life and human development. If people become more attuned to the intrinsic rhythm of life, it becomes easier to know when events will unfold and when one should just wait for the maturation process to complete. In this way astrology provides us with the tools to get into conscious alignment with the timing of a higher order.

Astrology does not offer an explanation...why the universe exists. What it does, to put it in simplest terms, is to show us that there is a rhythm to the universe, and that man's own life partakes of that rhythm. Henry Miller

In my previous post I explained the pattern which every planetary cycle will follow. We can break this pattern down further by dividing the circle into four quadrants of expression. This division corresponds to the 4th harmonic which divides the circle into four sets of 90 degrees. This four-fold division also mirrors the cycle of the seasons. These are:

The Source or Seed = Winter = The beginning or first impulse,
out of which comes
The Bud = Spring = desire or emotion,
followed by
The Flower = Summer = thought or perception,
followed by
The Fruit = Autumn = material manifestation or action.

In seemingly perfect unison with the planets we repeat this fundamental cycle of impulse-desire-thought-action throughout our lives. Everything that we decide to do in life, from the most insignificant to the highest act, will inevitably follow these four steps. First we have an impulse to act, this desire motivates us, we than perceive ways to attain our desire and this leads to action. The knowledge that we gain at the end of each cycle feeds the next impulse from which will spring forth our next thought, desire and action and so on. From this knowledge we can deduce that at each 90 degree stage of a cycle (90- 180- 270 - 360/0) there will be some form of manifestation of the principle that was initially seeded.

In the Sun cycle, the start point is when the Sun crosses from the Southern into the Northern hemisphere at the Vernal Equinox. Symbolically, however, the cycle begins afresh whenever two, or more, outer planets conjoin. Thus, in the upcoming 180 phase of the planets, Saturn and Neptune, we must look at the cycle retrospectively and track back to the time when they conjoined. The seed planted in 1989 is about to 'bear fruit.'

From a mundane perspective if we look in news files or history books to see what was starting at that time (representative of the seed moment), we can then track what took place at the 90 degree phase (in late 1998 early 1999). We can use this information to glean which situations are approaching another period of material manifestation in 2006. We can also track back thru previous cycles of these two planets to see if there is a recurring theme that presents itself each time these two planets align. In this way we are using astrology as a practical tool.

The same principle can be applied to our personal lives. What was happening with us in 1989 and how can we witness that coming to some kind of manifestation around now? Do we want to endlessly repeat the cycle or can we see a way to learn the lesson of what these years have taught us? Can we use this insight to become consciously aware of what we are doing? If we recall the experience and gain knowledge from it, we can begin the next phase of the cycle with more illumination about what we are intending to manifest at the next 90 degree separation these two planets.

In this way, astrology becomes an experiential tool for transformation. By stepping outside ourselves and becoming an observer of our patterns, we come to recognise how we really do 'reap what we sow'.

PLANETARY CYCLES & World Events

The application of planetary cycles to World events is known in astrology lingo as Mundane Astrology. In the previous series of posts I used the example of the human life cycle, showing its correlation to the movement of the Sun against the backdrop of the celestial sphere (the Zodiac). However, all planetary cycles follow a similar pattern. Plainly though, the symbolism I detailed in the previous posts needs expanding when assessing the cyclical nature of World events.

So we arrive at a list which looks something like this:

1. ORIGIN -0-
2. REFLECTION -30-
3. CREATION -60-
4. FORMATION -90-
5. GERMINATION -120-
6. PRODUCTION -150-
7. SATISFACTION -180-
8. DESTRUCTION -210 or incoming 150-
9. DISTRIBUTION - 240 or incoming 120-
10.ACCOMPLISHMENT - 270 or incoming 90-
11.COLLABORATION - 300 or incoming -60-
12.CONSOLIDATION - 330 or incoming 30-

Let's first look at the 12 fold cycle of the Sun, as this is the fundamental basis of astrology upon which the entire symbolism of the art is founded.

The Sun is the centre of our solar system and the star around which all our planets revolve. We therefore assign the Sun cycle the symbol of One i.e. everything is symbolically encompassed within the whole, be it one hour, one month or one year, one revolution, or one lifetime. This is then divided into 12 equal sections. So, using the list above we can say that when the Sun is cycling through the 6th (18th, 30th, 42nd etc) section since the 'birth' of the Country, Business (or whatever is made manifest) in question, then it will be going through a period whose main focus is on PRODUCTION.

Thus, if the Company or Country, was formed in 2001 we use that as our start point. When the Sun cycles to the 6th month/year it has reached the outgoing 150 degree phase. Then in the 7th month/year it has reached its furthest point 180 degrees away and stands in opposition, where it now starts to cycle back towards its start point. Once returned to -0- the cycle rebirths or continues, arriving back at the same location every subsequent 12 months. So we can say that what is characterised in year 6 will follow in year 18, 30 and so on. What is characterised in year 7 will return in years 19, 31, 43 etc, etc.

To return to our example then, like the human life cycle in my previous post, the 6th year will mirror events to do with the Country's or Company's basic 'health', its practices and day to day environment. Anything which hinders efficiency, and forward movement will come up for review and needs addressing at this stage. Events and issues will arise which focus on what kind of effort needs to occur in order to experience SATISFACTION at the -180- phase.

SATISFACTION may seem like an inappropriate adjective for the opposition which can be fraught with tension, and perhaps literal opposition to progress. However it is at this stage (the 7th year) that the 'entity', finds satisfaction in the objective expression of whatever was seeded at the ORIGIN phase. For example if the 'entity' is a company whose idea is to sell a unique product, it is only at the opposition -180- that one will be able to objectively see if the initial idea is going to work. It is at this point that adjustments may need to be made. Further tweaking and periods of revaluation and temporary crisis may occur every cycle. This is also the foundation of the axiom about the 'Seven ages of Man' and the reason why life seems to develop in specifically defined 7 year cycles.

In the case of a country, if we apply this methodology to the current problems for Israel we see that the latest agreement (-0-) for modern Israel, since it gained indepenedence from Roman, Arab or Turkish domination, began in 1948. In 2006 the Sun has cycled to its 58th year; the incoming -90-. This phase is one noted as ACCOMPLISHMENT. This is a period of instability and crisis; a phase of establishing authority and status and accomplishing one's objectives. If we look back at previous cycles the Sun was also in this sector in years 10 (1958) year 22 (1970) and 34 and 46 (years 1982 and '94). In 1982 we indeed find that Israel came to a similar juncture when it launched an attack against Lebanon. Indeed, Hezbollah first formed as a result of this attack.

The interweaving and interlocking cycles of all the planets describes a spiral shape within the Cosmos. Each cycle may return to the same place every 12 years but it has subtly moved on through space and brings with it a different set of accompanying factors. These are denoted by the current phases of all the other planetary cycles. However, when studying astrology and applying this knowledge, please remember that the other factors only add the colour and detail. It is the Sun which is the unifying factor and controls the pattern being woven. And it is to this primary cycle which astrologers must look when analysing events, whether of a mundane or personal nature.

CYCLESCOPES EXPLAINED

When society or religion fails to provide us with a means to understanding our place in the scheme of things, another way must be found. One discipline which offers insight and succour, in times of uncertainty and restlessness, is astrology.

Through deciphering our place in the circle of time we can come to understand our 'Self' but also anticipate how events will unfold. This is not through some secret mystical divinatory technique, nor some quack belief system, but via a method based on a truth observed over millenia.

The most visible and important cycle is that of the apparent path of the Sun. It is the Sun which describes the circle around the Earth which forms what we know as the Astrological Zodiac (as opposed to the astronomical one).

The Sun's path is divided by Astrologers into 12 equal sections of 30 degrees. Once the zodiac roughly aligned with the constellations but this is no longer the case. So, the zodiac to which astrologers refer is anchored firmly to the apparent passage of the Sun commencing with the Vernal Equinox, and is purely symbolic.

Astrologers talk about aspects. This is derived from the fact that as the cycles (orbits) of the planets are all of varying duration, all the planets in our Solar System are continually forming different aspectual relationships to each other. So a slower planet might only have reached the 'maturity' stage when another cycle is still in the iniatory period. This interweaving of timescales against the backdrop of the Zodiac is where ' the music is made'. All cycles commence with birth/growth to maturity, decay and onto death before repeating - nothing ever starts in the middle!

The planets will periodically come together and begin a cycle in harmony with each other. However as the faster planet cycles to an angle with the slower, it sets up a division of the circle. It is these divisions which have been shown to coincide with characteristic resonances which influence a sympathetic response in the individual.

When relating planetary positions to the birthchart rather than to each other,we are ostensibly looking at a frozen moment in time. It is as if we have arrested the movement of the planets to discern what the influences were on us at the start of our personal life cycle. We can then observe where the planets have cycled to, in relation to their place at the time of our birth, for any moment of our choosing. We can also 'freeze' the moment of birth of a company, relationship, country or any entity including objects such as a piece of Art.

So, to clarify; there are two types of forecast I employ; the first is one that relates back to a given start point for an person, place or thing. This is called a horoscope analysis. The second is the observation of what aspectual resonances the planets are currently forming in their interweaving cycles. This I term CycleScope, or outer planetary trends.

The next blog will detail the different phases of the cycle and the list the type of sympathetic resonance they set up during their cycles.

CYCLESCOPES - Continued

When two things come together as one they are said to be conjoined, or in unity. This unity fertilises a seed which, given the right conditions, develops a life cycle of its own from growth to maturity. We can see this all around us in every cycle of nature. A seed is planted but, although it is receiving energy it is invisible to us until we see it emerging from the hidden depths. This is apparent when new shoots arise above the ground, or a baby is born from the womb, and is called the initiatory or birth phase.

When two planets arrive at the same location, as viewed by us from Earth, it is symbolic of this unity phase. The CONJUNCTION is therefore deemed to be the starting point or 0 degrees phase of the cycle and represents a merging of the intrinsic nature of whatever is conjoining together. It is the moment of abundant power. It therefore translates in astrological language to the sign of ARIES and INITIATION, APPEARANCE, ASSERTIVENESS. It is an aspect of ENERGY.

I shall continue to relate each phase of one complete cycle to that of the cycle of growth in a child, as this makes it easier to understand the principles involved..............

When the faster moving planet has separated by 30 degrees it is the SEMI-SEXTILE. This corresponds to the sign of TAURUS and is the stage when a child needs NURTURING. They need to experience love (and touch) and to be given food in order to survive. Knowing they are dependent upon this SUSTENANCE they cling to the Mother POSSESSIVELY. This is therefore the aspect of GROWTH.

Next the planets cycle to a point which does not correlate to a sector of the zodiac but is an integral part of the unfoldment cycle. This is the 45 degree angle or the SEMI- SQUARE At this juncture the child (or entity/project which was birthed) experiences FRICTION. There is a need to expend a lot of effort for what may seem to be little progress. The parent and child experience FRUSTRATION but this gives way to progress when....

The SEXTILE phase is reached. This corresponds to the 60 degree angle and to the sign of GEMINI.The baby first realises, at this stage, that they are a separate being to their Mother or carer. They also begins to move around far more independently. The Mother also regains some autonomy as the child has dispensed with nappies and starts to learn to COMMUNICATE. They also start preschool and become INQUISITIVE. Hence it is an aspect in the growth cycle of OPPORTUNITY.

Next the planets cycle to 90 degrees, or the SQUARE aspect. A division of the circle by 4. As at this juncture one planet 'corners' the other it is associated with tensity (in-tensity). The child feels it wants one thing but its desires cannot always be met by the family. It therefore experiences CONFLICTING emotions based on needs and feelings to push forward, whilst concurrently wishing to remain secure, protected and loved. Separation anxiety is common. Hence this aspect relates to emotion and the sign CANCER and is one of OBSTACLE.

As the child overcomes this phase of its life cycle it starts to enjoy being out in the world and having fun. So as the planets cycle to 120 degrees, a division of the circle by 3 known as the TRINE aspect, it finds happiness in the company of other children at play. The child has learned how to attract attention and often 'plays up'. This aspect then relates to LEO and to ATTENTION, POPULARITY and LUCK.

Between this phase and the next is another angle called the SESQUI-SQUARE at 135 degrees. This corresponds to a testing period, somtimes an illness or set back. It is the aspect of AGITATION

Next the planets cycle on until the aspectual angle reaches another 30 degrees hence - 150 degrees, known as THE INCONJUNCT. This angle correlates to the child now having an established routine. He or she knows how to brush his/her own teeth. They also like to be helpful around the house. The child now recognises there are certain things that it likes to do and often does them repetitively. Hence this angle relates to the sign of VIRGO and HYGIENE, SERVICE & ROUTINE. It is the angle of EXPANSION.

Finally the youngster realises it is no longer a part of its Mother but an entirely separate individual. In this respect it has come from the unity point to the duality point, shown by the half way aspect known as THE OPPOSITION. It is able to see itself, primarily through REFLECTION (OR PROJECTION) from all the others it comes into contact with. The child forms RELATIONSHIP and will accrue open enemies as a rite of passage. The DIPLOMACY that the child employs now in dealing with these situations will establish levels of harmony (give and take) so redolent of the sign it embraces, LIBRA. The cycle is now at the point of BALANCE- a turning point.

Libra therefore possesses the diametrically opposite qualities of Aries and this holds true for the entire circle. This is why the LAW OF POLARITY applies to the study of astrological symbolism. For now that the cycle has reached its halfway point it repeats its journey on the incoming 180 degrees.

CYCLESCOPES - The Law of Polarity

The Law of Polarity states that anything can be split into two wholly opposite characteristics; and each of these polar elements contains the potentiality of the other within its essence.

Thus 180 degrees at Libra, plus another 30 degrees = 210 degrees but this is 150 degrees away from the slower planet. Therefore the sign of SCORPIO relates to the 150 angle, or INCONJUNCT, of EXPANSION but stands opposite the sign of TAURUS. The child now starts a process of TRANSFORMATION when they may become aware of the concept of death and loss. He/she also discovers the sexual organs and begins the inexorable march towards puberty. Now very much an individual, they delight in keeping secret diaries or having a room with a sign warning 'Do Not Enter'. Like their counterpart Taurus, they become quite acquisitive and possessive but also SECRETIVE.

The cycle then returns to the 120 degree Trine. They child discovers in SAGITTARIUS the concept of JUSTICE, OPINION and SPORTSMANSHIP. They develop an urge to travel independently outside of their known location and may begin ‘sleepovers’. School work begun in GEMINI now becomes more earnest.

This knowledge is then put to use in establishing security and status in the 10th house of CAPRICORN. He/she begins to seek lasting SECURITY, PURPOSE and ACCOMPLISHMENT in the form of exam results. It is at this stage, 180 degrees away from the 4th of CANCER, that many find life a bit of a struggle as they realize parents have expectations of them. It is associated with EFFORT and WILLPOWER.

The child then moves into the realm of fun and friendship and CREATIVE COOPERATION as they move among a COMMUNITY in the sign of AQUARIUS. Peer pressure comes to the fore and like its opposite sign, LEO, a marked a need to stand out from the crowd emerges. As this sector is a 60 degree aspect they begin to be rewarded for their efforts in communicating and learning and establish their uniqueness.

Finally they realize that life is what you make it. This realisation that one has to now expand out into the world and go to ‘Big school’ can be a confusing, scary time. This correlates to the sign of PISCES They are approaching the end of one cycle and the beginning of another. It is a time fraught with FEAR and/or IDEALISM. In the negative manifestation, many experience times of isolation, WITHDRAWAL and may even resort to bad behaviour and slovenliness. For others, much of the sign of VIRGO is reflected in their behaviour. It becomes a period of eager anticipation and as it is the incoming semi-sextile, it is one of growth. They work diligently and become extremely tidy and organized. Subconsciously they know a new phase is imminent as the cycle returns to 0 degrees.

I have used the analogy throughout of the cycle of the child from 0 – 12 years. The cycle then repeats, so that at 24/25 years the adult is very much in the throes of assessing how far they have come. At 30/31 years (180 aspect on the second cycle) relationship and agreement in the form of marriage is very much to the fore. At 36/37 a new cycle begins again, only to find testing at 42/43 - the mid life crisis where many divorces occur. At 48 a new cycle begins for the 49th year, and so on and so forth.

Other cycles co exist such as the Saturn cycle, Uranus cycle etc., but however long the cycle they all follow the same pattern - one of:

BIRTH/new beginnnings
GROWTH/learning
OPPORTUNITY/expression
OBSTACLE/instability and tension
LUCK/love and vitality
EXPANSION/hard work but also strain
SEPARATION/division
and the return cycle of polarity.

Other divisions of the circle exist and I will comment on them in future posts concerning harmonics. However those laid out in the series of posts above correlate to the basic 12 fold cycle of the Sun, as it relates to personal development, and I hope you find it informative.
